Farewell 2020!
(Oswald Chambers) “A saint’s life is in the hands of God as a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see; he stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says: ‘I cannot stand anymore.’ But God does not heed; he goes on stretching until his purpose is in sight, then he lets it fly. We are for God’s designs, not for our own.†(Henry Beecher) “It is trial that proves one thing weak and another strong. A house built on the sand is in fair weather just as good as if built on a rock. A cobweb is as good as the mightiest cable when there is no strain upon it.†(G. K. Chesterton) “On the whole, I came to the conclusion that the optimist thought everything good except the pessimist, and that the pessimist thought everything bad, except himself.â€

Preacher: P. Jim Jung CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 135:1-3, 13-14 1Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord,
2who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God!
3Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!
13Your name, O Lord, endures forever, your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages.
14For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
SILENT CONFESSION Let us prepare our hearts by privately confessing our sins to our loving Heavenly Father. Be honest before God, and bear your heart and soul to Him. Thank Him and Praise Him for the good things; and confess those sins you knowingly and unknowingly commit, even the sin of omitting the good that you ought to have done. (Silent Private Prayer) ASSURANCE OF PARDON (In Christ, our sins are covered!) Hear the good news! Psalm 103:8-12 “8The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 10He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.†PRAYER OF ADORATION
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Heidelberg Catechism – Lord’s Day #52 – PRAYER 127. What is the sixth petition? “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;†that is, since we are so weak in ourselves that we cannot stand a moment,[1] and besides, our deadly enemies, the devil,[2] the world,[3] and our own flesh,[4] assail us without ceasing, be pleased to preserve and strengthen us by the power of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may make firm stand against them and not be overcome in this spiritual warfare,[5] until finally complete victory is ours.[6] [1] Jn. 15:5; Ps. 103:14-16. [2]I Pet. 5:8-9; Eph. 6:12-13. [3]Jn. 15:19. [4]Rom. 7:23; Gal. 5:17. [5]Mt. 26:41; Mk. 13:33. [6]I Thess.3:13; 5:23-24; *II Cor. 12:7. 128. How do you close this prayer? “For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever;†that is, all this we ask of Thee, because as our King, having power over all things, Thou art willing and able to give us all good;[1] and that thereby not we, but Thy holy name may be glorified for ever.[2] [1]Rom. 10:11-12; II Pet. 2:9. [2]Jn. 14:13; Ps. 115:1. 129. What is the meaning of the word “Amen?†“Amen†means: so shall it truly and surely be. For my prayer is much more certainly heard of God than I feel in my heart that I desire these things of Him.[1] [1]II Cor. 1:20; II Tim. 2:13; *Ps. 145:18-19. North Ryde NSW 2113 OFFERING Offering is part of our worship to God. The Bible gives us
an enduring principle of tithing of our gross income as the baseline for the Christian’s worship through giving (2 Cor 9:7; Malachi 3:8-10). If every church member gave 10%, we would have enough financial resources for all the gospel ministry God is calling our church to do. Let the Spirit guide you in all final matters.
