(Frederick Nietzsche) “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. Yet his shadow still looms. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?” (Richard Paul Russo in “Ship of Fools”) “The idea of human beings in power acting out of anything except self-interest, however, was absurd to me. “Are you being naive?” I asked her.” (Charles George Gordon) “If you tell the truth, you have infinite power supporting you; but if not, you have infinite power against you.” (C. S. Lewis) “A man can’t always be defending the truth; there must be a time to feed on it.”

Jim Jung CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 71:1-6 1In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! 2In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! 3Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. 4Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. 5For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. 6Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you. SILENT CONFESSION Let us prepare our hearts by privately confessing our sins to our loving Heavenly Father. Be honest before God, and bear your heart and soul to Him. COMMUNITY BIBLE READING Please join us in daily reading of God's word as a church body. There is an app available for the reading plan 'Community Bible Reading' and a link available here. PRAYING THROUGH YOUR PEN DISCUSSION QUESTIONS How do we subject God to our judgment according to the message? Can you recall those times when you have also participated in dismissing the presence and authority of God? Merely going through the motion is tiresome, tedious, and numbing. Have you ever experienced such spiritual apathy? How does the Lordship of Christ set us free? Is Jesus indeed the Lord of your life in every way? What was the most helpful/challenging/encouraging part of the sermon for you?
