Find free tutoring at the IDEAS Center (2nd floor of Central Library). Find out about Supplemental Instruction. Become a better writer—use the Writing Center. With a 3.0 GPA overall and 3.2 GPA in anthropology, you can get recognized on the Anthropology Honor Roll. Consider being part of the Honors College.
Join Anthropology Club. Make peer contacts within all of your classes. Verify that you are on the anthropology listserve to get field school and special event announcements. Come to department mixer events and meet the Anthropology faculty. Join the North Texas Archaeological Society and attend monthly meetings in Fort Worth.

Run for a leadership position in anthropology club or Lamda Alpha Become an Anthropology Ambassador, Supplemental Instructor, or Peer Academic Leader
Complete at least two of the anthropology foundation courses: Global Studies (ANTH 2322), Biological Anthropology (ANTH 2307), and Intro. to Archaeology (ANTH 2339). These will help you select upper-division courses. Review the course options for the Anthropology Method and the Theory requirements. Ask advisor how often your courses of interest are taught. Review the language options.
Attend public lectures on campus. Examples include: Women’s History Month lectures Center for Theory talks Termini Distinguished Anthropologist lecture Maverick Speakers Series events Apply for Termini funds in support of research and anthropological opportunities. Meet with faculty to discuss attending a regional, national, or international professional conference in the next year, and ask about possible funding.
Get great at doing research. Join Lamda Alpha, the anthropology Honors Society. With a 3.0 GPA overall, 3.2 GPA in anthropology and 12 hours in anthropology, you can be recognized as an Anthropology Scholar. Ask your advisor if you are eligible to apply for the McNair Scholars Program. Ask faculty about research and volunteer opportunities. Ask faculty about presenting research at UTA's COLA Spotlight conference.
