These sessions will encompass best practices in math fact fluency and building a foundation of number sense and flexibility with numbers and operations. Session 1 | Grades K-2 | 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Session 2 | Grades 3-5 | 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Both of these sessions will focus on Math Running Records as an assessment tool as well as ideas to explore addition/subtraction (Session 1) and multiplication/division (Session 2) strategies in concrete, pictorial, and abstract ways. Discussion of how Math Running Records can be done systematically within a district and a classroom will also be discussed. Outcomes: Explore the progression of mathematical reasoning from counting to additive thinking and then to multiplicative reasoning Understand the mathematics behind the Math Running Record recording sheet to determine the strengths of students Understand how to provide a targeted instructional response to forward students on their math journey while positively affecting their math disposition This live session will be recorded for educational purposes. On-Demand access will be available through April 3, 2021 for registered participants only.
