African-American Read-In
During the month of February, schools, churches, libraries, bookstores, community and professional organizations, and interested citizens are urged to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month by hosting an African American Read-In. At BEHS, we invite teachers to bring classes to the library and students share poetry, lyrics, or text passages written by African-Americans. Students (and teachers) may read alone, with a partner, or even sing us their selections. Teachers can expect the sign-up information to be sent out a few weeks prior to the event. To prepare: Go to this page of resources we've created Suggest poems, songs, or books to be included in our program Visit the library's book display (coming in February)

NO PASSES are needed BEFORE/ AFTER SCHOOL or DURING YOUR LUNCH, but space is first come, first served. If the library is reserved for classes during particular periods, space may be limited. If you have a study hall library pass, please come directly to the library. We will take your attendance. If you want to come during a class, your classroom teacher should call us first to make sure we have space and then sign a pass in your agenda.
