october 23, 2019 - vsac forms night
The 2020-2021 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), the application for post-secondary financial aid, will be available for seniors and their families on October 1st. The CVU Direction Center encourages all Class of 2020 students to file the FAFSA and apply for a Vermont Grant through VSAC -- even if they are not sure where, when (or if) they will attend college. Students could miss available college and scholarship financial aid by not completing the FAFSA early.
If you would like more assistance filling out these forms, consider attending CVU's Financial Aid Forms Night on October 23rd, where a VSAC representative will be on hand to help! At this informal workshop we will assist you as you file your FAFSA and Vermont state grant application. We have two sessions, one from 5:30 - 6:30 pm and one from 6:45 - 7:45 pm.
Please note that you MUST register (space is limited to 15 people per session) by Friday, October 18th AND obtain an FSA ID at least 48 hours before the event. Students and parents will each need their own account and can sign up at: https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.
Students should also 1) register for a MyVSAC account at https://secureacctaccess.vsac.org/myvsac/ and 2) share the non-school email address and password they used to create the account with their parents (if the student will not be attending the workshop).

Issue 1 | Date: September 23, 2019 - Next Issue is the Last Week in October - Website: cvsdvt.org/cvuhs https://www.cvsdvt.org/cvuhs
Welcome back to school! We’re excited to begin meeting with each senior to help with future planning goals. Whether you are thinking about a job/career, college, technical training, the military or a gap year, we are here to help you. We would like all of our seniors, whatever their plans may be, to schedule a senior appointment with their house counselor.
College-bound students who know they have an October or November Early Action or Early Decision application deadline should schedule their appointments no later than the end of September. Students with regular application deadlines may make their appointments following that date. Appointments should be scheduled at least four weeks prior to the first admission deadline to provide enough time to complete all paperwork. Please contact your house counselor (in person or through email) to schedule your senior appointment during a free block. Karen Archer, the Direction Center Administrative Assistant, can also help students with scheduling appointments.
Permission to send out transcripts - Opt-out policy: The CVU Direction Center operates under the assumption that all parents give permission for transcripts to be sent to the colleges to which their students are applying. If this is NOT the case, please contact your student's house counselor.
