High School Athletics: While we are patiently waiting to return, plans are being made at the high school level within NIAA guidelines/timeline to begin Women’s Flag Football and Men’s/Women’s Basketball in January. This is contingent upon several factors, however plans are still moving forward and schedules are being finalized and approved. With that in mind, if there is not enough interest from student athletes we will not be able to put together teams to compete in the schedules being made. This is why completing the form below is so important. Please, if you have not done so already get this done. The link is below: CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT FORM Once we have enough interest in a team emails will be sent out with further information regarding schedules and required paperwork. For your information, the following is the proposed timeline for winter sports (Women’s Flag Football & Basketball): Winter Season Sports (6 competitive weeks): Practice may begin Saturday, January 2, 2021 First contest may be held Thursday, January 14*, 2021 Last contest Saturday, February 20, 2021
Athletics Information
Middle School Athletics: At this time we have nothing new from NCSAA regarding middle school athletics. Please continue to complete the athletics interest form so that we can be ready once we have more information. The link for the middle school form is: CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT FORM For questions about Secondary Athletics please contact our Secondary Athletic Director at: jennifer.jepson@pinecrestnv.org
We appreciate everyone who took the time to fill out the athletics form that was sent out earlier this month. If you have still not done so we need you to complete it so we have an accurate picture of student interest for this year. We have received questions about the recent announcement from the Governor's office regarding athletics and what it means for our school. The announcement gives us updated guidelines and safety protocols for practice/competitions and is a step in the right direction in allowing us to be able to return to athletics at Sloan Canyon. However, with that being said we are still in a holding pattern until we have approval by the school board and administration to return. In the meantime, please keep up with your child's academic progress. Academic performance can and will impact athletic eligibility come January. If a student is not passing their classes they will not be eligible to participate in athletics. Check Infinite Campus regularly to monitor academic progress.
How to Report an Absence: Pinecrest Sloan Canyon is implementing a new absence reporting system. The system follows new health and safety guidelines advised by the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) and the State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA). If your child was absent from school, either physically or virtually, you must now report the circumstances of the absence to the school. To report the absence, you will need to go to the Pinecrest Sloan Canyon website,https://www.pinecrestsloancanyon.org/. On the home page of the website, under the Attendance tab you will click on the Student Absence Google Form. Please answer each of the sections completely. Make sure to submit when you are finished. Thank you for your cooperation. We are committed to keeping the health of our students and staff members our number ONE priority! Chromebook Issues If your child is having technical issues with their school issued Chromebook please contact Intellatek first. They are open from 8 am - 12 pm Monday - Friday. The Intellatek Hotline number is: 702-840-6060. If Intellatek tells them to trade their chromebook out please email Dalton Clark at Dalton.Clark@pinecrestnv.org.
