Happy New Year! As we welcomed in 2019, I am quite sure that a few of us made at least one or more resolutions or declarations regarding the goals we want to accomplish this year. Whether that resolution was to eat healthier, get fit, or one of countless other possibilities, we are cognizant of the fact that the new year has the potential to turn out much differently from the previous year based on the decisions that we make. As a student of the School of Professional Studies, you have made the decision to pursue a higher level of education. This journey is not for the faint of heart. It requires a key ingredient – FOCUS. To "focus" is to place an emphasis on or to have a clear perception of something specific. The multiple New York Times bestselling author, Jack Canfield says that, “Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.” The year 2019 is here and in full swing. Rest assured that life will happen. Distractions and challenges will come. However, we must keep our focus. Let us make 2019 the best year yet.
