An open letter from your camp-sick Camp Director
I can’t help but think about the Lenox torch during this Holiday Season while we light the Menorah and wonderfully scented pine and roasted chestnut candles. During our “normal” Holiday Season, December gets very quiet as families begin to travel and spend quality time together. Since 2020 is anything but normal, family time has become routine, and traveling is not really a short term consideration. What I’m trying to say is, “It’s VERY quiet here and we miss our CAMP family!” I have thought about next summer with such anticipation and excitement, and wanted to share my innermost feelings of what 2021 should look like… I envision each age group reuniting on June 26th with such intense, fanatic elation, that my emotions will be uncontrollable! It may feel, right now, on this cold December day, that this wonderful day we REIGNITE is standing in the far distant future...but it’s not! We are just days away from 2021, and the countdown to an incredible summer continues! I envision our amazing veteran and alumni Staff cheering as all campers arrive and at the meals, to get the party started! Remember, the Lenox Spirit cannot be replaced; it’s contagious and keeps us all connected. I envision campfires everywhere! With so many new fire pits in camp, we will be cooking outdoors, and keeping the wood ablaze into the evening hours. The best conversations and stories come from around the campfire! I envision special events like no other summer. Our goal is to provide events for all girls, groups of girls, all boys, groups of boys, co-ed by age, co-ed by division, etc...so the creativity and energy of our community continues to flow from Shaw Pond to Pasty’s Patch! I envision campers of all ages playing their favorite sports on the courts and fields and enjoying the arts, culinary, and adventure programs in ways they never embraced before! The great outdoors will be our landscape for growing and sharing the camp experience. Let’s imagine it’s the last night of camp; the numbers 2020 burning bright in the campfire area as we hum the alma mater and hold on tight to our small burning candle. The Berkshire sky is illuminated with the Northern Lights shimmering above the grand pines that envelop our camp family. “Oh chosen rock I lay thee down…” is repeated in harmony as the quavering voices of young boys and teen girls can be heard in the darkness of our own personal sanctuary. The candles go out, summer is over, do we really have to wait another 10 months? NO!! The countdown continues to Summer 2021 with less than 200 days until our torch reignites! Let’s keep the TORCH BURNING...reach out to a camp friend, wear Lenox swag, and look forward to the best reunion CL has ever witnessed come June 26th, 2021! Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy, and hopeful holiday season, Stephanie

"Hey Lenox! I’m in Colombia missing you guys a lot. Due to Covid, I had to find a different job based on my career, so right now I’m working in Amazon Customer Service at home... so please, if you call, be nice! X. I really need the Camp right now! I miss being on the courts with all you guys playing Davis Cup, or CROCODILE with my Collegian Boys! Bring on summer 2021 so I can be back with my boys and part of the Lenox tennis staff as always. See you soon!"
