Happy Summer Achieve Family,
What a year. I'd like to thank our Board, staff, families, students and the multiple organizations and agencies that helped us finish this extraordinary year strong with hope for the future.
Achieve Charter School in Chico and Paradise
If you get the chance, sneak a peak at our new campus behind Life Church in Chico. It is amazing, beautiful and will serve our school community as well, if not better than our Paradise home (that is still waiting for us). Our insurance company, CharterSAFE, has committed to paying the lease on our temporary school site for the 19-20 and 20-21 school years. While our charter mandates us to operate in Paradise, we have permission to operate in Chico for the 19-20 school year through an extension of the Governor's Executive Order to support the Camp Fire recovery efforts. We also have a 5 year temporary occupancy permit through the City of Chico.
Meanwhile our school in Paradise is being renovated, repaired, painted, and spruced up for our planned return. We are monitoring a number of factors as we plan to return to Paradise including safety, water, and population. Our goal is to serve our Achieve community living in Chico and Paradise during the rebuild process that is projected to take at least 5 years. Our hope is to open in Paradise in 21-22 to serve our families living in Paradise and continue to serve our families still in Chico at our Chico site while they rebuild over the coming years. Stay tuned as we begin working with our local school districts and City governments to this end.
Achieve in Chico Grand Opening:
Make plans to attend our annual ice cream social on Tuesday, August 13th at 5:30 where the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for our Chico campus. This will be an opportunity for our Achieve community to thank the numerous donors, community leaders and organizations who supported our recovery efforts and helped make our Chico campus a reality.
Upward and Onward!
Parents, thank you for your support and patience, your resilience and perseverance this year. I truly believe Achieve and the Town of Paradise will come back even better than we were. Check out this video our 2nd grade teacher Jessica Wright made recapping the year for her class. Does such a nice job of summing up the year for all of us. Looking forward to the start of a new wonderful year with you!
