Serving the Community
Dear Community, 2020 was a year full of things that no one expected. Each of us faced fear and uncertainty as we faced the unknown. But as it has been since 1870, the Duluth Area Family YMCA was here for our community. As you can see from the information we share here, our team stepped forward in the midst of the pandemic to make sure that our community members had food, had safe places for their children, had connection, had opportunities to move and stay well, and most importantly, had the knowledge that they were not alone. This year, even as our doors were closed, we remained here for good. Thank you for standing with us as we stood with our community. We look forward to brighter days ahead.

“We just left a very abusive relationship. Our family got residence at a local safe house, I enrolled my child in school, and I got a job right away to start saving for an apartment. The problem is that my child is too old for any kind of childcare, school is distance learning, and they are too young to stay at the safe house alone while I am at work. The only thing I knew is that I could get a 3-month membership to the Y and it would be a safe place for my child to be while I was working to try to make a better future for us. We are so thankful for the Y being here for our family at this time.” - Open Doors Member
