A message from Ms. Lacina:
It is with great sadness that I share with you the loss of one of our seventh grade students, Jacori Finley. Jacori was a remarkable young man who was loved by many. His loss affects our entire Wood community. Students will have varied reactions to the death of a peer. Any reaction is normal in the grief process and can range from withdrawal, to crying and anger. I encourage you to openly discuss with your child their reactions and feelings. Special counseling services have been made available to students on Monday and will continue to be available throughout the week and longer, if needed. If you feel that your child or family needs some assistance, please contact us, and we will do everything we can to help you. There are also resources in the community LINKED HERE. Services will be held at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral home on January 4 from 10-12:00. Obituary Please observe your child closely over the next several days and weeks to watch for signs of distress, which may indicate a need for additional support and guidance. We know you will join us in our concern and sympathy for the family and our Wood Junior High community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school at 563-445-5300.
