Christmas can be...
Over commercialised , greedy, snatch and grab attitude, unappreciating public. Not every one loves Christmas, it brings stresses of money, stresses of providing for your family, loneliness and discomfort.. BUT...
Christmas should be...
A time of love, family, thoughtfulness of others, winter feasts to get us through until spring, bright lights to combat the dark and cold. A time of compassion. Be excellent to each other!
True meaning of Christmas
Make-up Your Mind is our programme aimed at maximising your mental health. So often we talk about mental health as though only some people have it which of course is nonsense - we all have mental health, sometimes it's great other times not so much, but there are tools and strategies we can use to get the most out of it. Everything changes, nothing stays the same and so it is with our minds. Make-up Your Mind offers bite-sized pieces of information to help us to manage the next chapter of our lives.
In this session, pictured below, people focused on Trust and Hope and what they needed to break through to a better future. Each session is different and this was the culmination of a 10 week course. Congratulations to Anne, Paul, Jackie and Carolyn - see you at the party on the 18th Dec to pick up your certificates.
A big thank you to Belona who has been running the Press Ahead journalism course at Under-1-Roof for the last two months. Everyone who participated has learnt so much and this newsletter is a direct consequence of all her efforts. If you want to try your hand at writing an article for the newsletter or you have an opinion you want heard then please come and join the editorial team between 11am and 12am every thursday. We need your contributions and enthusiasm.
The Undies went into the studio last month. They recorded 2 self written songs; one called 'Stomach Full of Emptiness', all about being homeless and another 'Looking At You'.
