Wednesday Attendance Procedures
Since the state requires attendance to be taken daily, all students will be REQUIRED to sign-in to their FIRST PERIOD TEACHER on Virtual Wednesdays. This will be completed on a Google Form, which will be created by their first period teacher and placed on their Google Classroom stream. Students will be given a 2 hour span of time to complete this attendance form from 7:30am until 9:30am – the form will be shut off at 9:31 am and any student who has not turned in their attendance will be marked ABSENT for the entire day.
If you did not receive a carloop tag for student pickup at the beginning of the year or if you need a replacement, please stop by the front office during school business hours. Students are only to be picked up in carloop once school is back in session and this tag is mandatory to do so.
CERT EXAM INFORMATION
The CERT Benchmark Exam will occur on Wednesday, January 13th. This is for 9th and 10th grade students and only the 8th graders who are in Algebra I. They need to login to their first period class at 7:50am. The exam will take approximately 3 hours.
OFFICE HOURS WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13th
There are no office hours on Wednesday, January 13th due to CERT benchmark testing. However, all students still MUST fill out the Wednesday attendance for from their 1st period teacher.
High School Student Drivers Permit Requests
Drivers under the age of 18 are required to show proof of school attendance per NRS.483.2521. All Nevada students will be required to submit a DMV-301, the Department of Motor Vehicles Certificate of Attendance form, to the local DMV office when applying for either an instructional permit or a driver's license. Students who fail to meet the attendance standards outlined above will be unable to secure the school official's signature required on the DMV-301 to apply for an instruction permit or driver’s license. The Registration office will be the one to verify this information.
Please send an email request to our Registrar by emailing SloanInfo@pinecrestnv.org. Make sure to include your students first & last name, date of birth, and parent first & last name requesting the DMV-301 form – we will complete the form in full. Please allow 2-3 full school days for this request to be processed – requests for same day or next day are not guaranteed. You will be contacted by email when the DMV-301 document is ready for pick up at our front office.
Thank you for your understanding.
High School Student Council Website
o Important updates on events.
o Our Constitution and Meeting Agendas/Minutes.
o Surveys, which will allow our students to utilize their voice and give us an opinion on upcoming events.
o Student/Teacher Spotlights: The students within the student spotlight are the students that we pick as teachers, and the teacher spotlight is teachers that are picked by students.
o Link to our Social Media Account: Another way to see important dates.
o NSOP: New Student Outreach Program (this is still a work in progress): This will allow students who are feeling disconnected, or who are new at our school to reach out to us, and student council can try and help them get connected.

High School Athletics:
Our High School Girls Flag Football team has been practicing and will have their first competition in the next few weeks. Thank you to Coach Barnes and best of luck to our Lady Pirates this season!
At this time Basketball is still categorized as not cleared to compete per mandates set forth by the Governor’s office. We look forward to a great season next year in a new gymnasium.
The remaining NIAA (High School) shortened seasons for Fall and Spring are still currently in place and would include Girls Volleyball, Cross Country, Soccer and Track & Field. At this time there has not been enough interest received to field a soccer team at the high school level. It is imperative that athletes complete the Register My Athlete process in order to have an accurate count for teams and to form rosters. A step by step guide to complete registration is available on the NIAA RMA for parents page: http://www.niaa.com/x/cxdts
Athletes are NOT allowed to practice or complete without a completed RMA.
Physicals have been extended and will be good for 2 years due to COVID restrictions. Documentation must be uploaded to the athletes RMA portal.
Fees will not be charged until there is clarification and confirmation that a season will take place for a program. Please get your registration done as soon as possible so there are not delays in your athletes’ ability to participate.
Middle School Update:
The latest from NCSAA was that winter season sports for middle school have been canceled. There are still plans to hold limited sports in the spring which would include Soccer, Track and Cross Country. If your middle school athlete is interested in participating in one of these please complete the interest form below by 1/20/2021. This will allow us to determine interest and our ability to fill teams/rosters.
How to Report an Absence:
Pinecrest Sloan Canyon is implementing a new absence reporting system. The system follows new health and safety guidelines advised by the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) and the State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA). If your child was absent from school, either physically or virtually, you must now report the circumstances of the absence to the school. To report the absence, you will need to go to the Pinecrest Sloan Canyon website,https://www.pinecrestsloancanyon.org/. On the home page of the website, under the Attendance tab you will click on the Student Absence Google Form. Please answer each of the sections completely. Make sure to submit when you are finished.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are committed to keeping the health of our students and staff members our number ONE priority!
If you need a pre-arranged absence please fill out the pre-arranged absence form (on our website under the attendance tab), not the Google Student Absence form. Thank you!
