Wednesday Attendance Procedures
Since the state requires attendance to be taken daily, all students will be REQUIRED to sign-in to their FIRST PERIOD TEACHER on Virtual Wednesdays. This will be completed on a Google Form, which will be created by their first period teacher and placed on their Google Classroom stream. Students will be given a 2 hour span of time to complete this attendance form from 7:30am until 9:30am – the form will be shut off at 9:31 am and any student who has not turned in their attendance will be marked ABSENT for the entire day.
Please see page 14 for an athletic update. Thank you!
High School Student Drivers Permit Requests
Drivers under the age of 18 are required to show proof of school attendance per NRS.483.2521. All Nevada students will be required to submit a DMV-301, the Department of Motor Vehicles Certificate of Attendance form, to the local DMV office when applying for either an instructional permit or a driver's license. Students who fail to meet the attendance standards outlined above will be unable to secure the school official's signature required on the DMV-301 to apply for an instruction permit or driver’s license. The Registration office will be the one to verify this information.
Please send an email request to our Registrar by emailing SloanInfo@pinecrestnv.org. Make sure to include your students first & last name, date of birth, and parent first & last name requesting the DMV-301 form – we will complete the form in full. Please allow 2-3 full school days for this request to be processed – requests for same day or next day are not guaranteed. You will be contacted by email when the DMV-301 document is ready for pick up at our front office.
Thank you for your understanding.

Greeting and Happy Holidays from the athletic department. We would like to update you regarding current situations pertaining to athletics.
Many of you may already have heard that CCSD has canceled their participation in the NIAA proposed winter shortened season for the upcoming semester. Sloan Canyon has opted to move forward with our programs that are able to participate in this season. This will be done while following all directives set forth by the NIAA and Governor’s office relating to return to play protocols. At this time, Girls Flag Football is the only program which is allowed to compete. We are on hold with regards to Boys Basketball as it is currently categorized as not cleared to play per mandates set forth by the Governor’s office. Bowling has been canceled due to a lack of interest in participation by students and other schools.
Modified practices for cleared sports may take place while following all state guidelines. However, at this time Sloan Canyon facilities remained closed for these practices until further notice. We will continue to develop schedules with schools who have indicated they will offer athletic programs during the winter shortened season.
The remaining short seasons for Fall and Spring are still currently in place and would include Girls Volleyball, Cross Country and Track & Field. Currently there has not been enough interest received to field a soccer team at the high school level. Golf for both men and women is also being discussed as there has been some interest indicated by students. More information will be sent out as we get closer to those shortened seasons.
Students at the high school level who are interested in competing MUST register through Register My Athlete online portal. Please see detailed instruction on the NIAA RMA for parents page: https://www.niaa.com/sports/RMA_for_Parents/parents
A step by step guide is also available on the NIAA RMA for parents page: http://www.niaa.com/x/cxdts
Also as a reminder an updated annual physical is required for registration/participation. Fees will not be charged until there is clarification and confirmation that a season will take place for a program. Please get your registration done as soon as possible so there are not delays in your athletes’ ability to participate.
Middle School Update: NYS has canceled winter season activities for middle school at this time.
How to Report an Absence:
Pinecrest Sloan Canyon is implementing a new absence reporting system. The system follows new health and safety guidelines advised by the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) and the State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA). If your child was absent from school, either physically or virtually, you must now report the circumstances of the absence to the school. To report the absence, you will need to go to the Pinecrest Sloan Canyon website,https://www.pinecrestsloancanyon.org/. On the home page of the website, under the Attendance tab you will click on the Student Absence Google Form. Please answer each of the sections completely. Make sure to submit when you are finished.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are committed to keeping the health of our students and staff members our number ONE priority!
If you need a pre-arranged absence please fill out the pre-arranged absence form (on our website under the attendance tab), not the Google Student Absence form. Thank you!
