Message from the Principal
Dear MGIS Families,
November is a month when many people like to take time and be thankful for the many great things in their lives, and I would like at this moment to appreciate what we have at MGIS.
I am very thankful, first of all, for the wonderful families that agree to give their children the gift of a second language. It is one of the best educational choices that a family can make, and I am glad that you chose to be on this journey with us.
Secondly, I am thankful for all the children who are in our care every day. Thank you to the families that send their children prepared to learn. Our school is safe and runs well because of the parents who put so much effort into their kids and out school.
Lastly, I am so thankful for the staff that we have at MGIS. I think that we are truly blessed to have so many talented and caring staff: teachers, paras, the office, engineering, and the support staff. All give their time, talents, and energy into making this team run smoothly.
Every year, MGIS runs a food drive in early November. I have seen the buckets of food that our families give, which leads me to believe that you are also thankful for blessings in your life. In advance, thank you so much for helping those in need. It is always an impressive display of generosity.
I hope that your November is filled with thankful moments and family memories.
P.S. See you at Laternennacht!

Chipotle Fund Raiser Info
There are many ways to volunteer at MGIS. Please give your time, if you can. It is always appreciated!
Lunchroom Helpers 11am-1230pm. These superheros help open milks, Go-gurts, and utensils. They also help wash the tables in between lunch shifts. People are needed on a daily basis. Click here to go to the Sign -Up Genius
PBIS Cart, T-TH, various times. The students' favorite volunteer. These people take the cart around to the kids and let them turn in the tickets that they earn for prizes. Generally speaking, this takes about an hour for one grade level.
Click here for the Sign-Up Genius
Reading Groups, both languages. Generally speaking, these are set up by individual teachers; however, if you have any questions, a great place to start is with Frau Tomkalski: firstname.lastname@example.org
PTA and GIF: Both of these organizations do so much for our school!
If you would like more info on the PTA, please email PTA President Judy Rutter: email@example.com
GIF is in need of volunteer families for the interns. If you would like more info please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
LOST AND FOUND!

November 2018 PTA Updates:
Hello MGIS Families,
We hope to see many of you at the November 13th PTA Meeting.
We had a great meeting in October. Aside from PTA business, we also had a few guest speakers. Lynne Woerhle, (a parent of two MGIS students, and a MSOL student), gave a great talk on coaching your child on becoming a peace maker, and how to deal with mean behavior with other children. (Click to see the PDF of her handout here.)
We also had the two candidates for Alderperson for district 5. They both spoke to why they would like your vote and why they think MGIS is so special (we may see both of their 4 yr olds at school next year!).
