It's hard to believe that I started celebrating women in cannabis a year ago, this March. Through that monthly sesh issue, I connected with so many amazing women and learned of their reach through brand and products that I knew this would be a mainstay. What started out as a nod to International Women's Day has turned into our annual celebration of women-owned and women-led brands in the cannabis & hemp industries (plant-touching; affiliated, or not). I'm also very excited to say that our newly developed Sales PEO is close to the soft launch! Please reach out to us for any of our client brands' products. Each one has met a list of qualifications to be represented by our Sales PEO, ensuring you offer the best to your clients and consumers. Finally, are you counting the green stars? I know how many are in each issue and sesh - do you? These stars have links embedded in them that will open up new windows so that you can continue your learning journey while saving information to read, at a later time. There are also shopping links and codes...You just have to engage with each page to find them all.

I received a nice sampling of TribeTokes products to review: All-in-one CBD vape, CBD gummies, CBD Superfood Mask & Pumpkin Peel Mask, CBD Cucumber Peptide Eye Gel & CBD Eye Rescue Cream, and CBD serums bundle. Because some products are best used at nighttime, I decided to turn the review into a home spa evening. It all started by drawing the perfect bath to soak while applying TribeTokes' skincare line - TRIBEAUTY. Spoiler Alert: It was a luxurious feeling with great results! Everything is calm and lovely to them. No pain. No care. No fear of anything, and while it lasts one feels like an angel half asleep."

The Story Of Us
Kim McCarthy started The Pipeline: Strategies, providing people strategies and marketing solutions. Entering the cannabis & hemp industries as an affiliated business, Kim developed two publications to deliver factual, current, and non-leveraged scientific studies for cannabis in all its forms, as well as the varied products and healthful utilitarian uses for humans & animals, and our environments & ecosystems. The digital publications - Harvest & Plume (everything hemp) and The Cannabis Sessions (THC+) - are formatted with andragogy, a style of adult learning that bonds the viewer with brands, products, and information. Because Kim's background is in people strategies, she felt it was important that the focus of these publications be an elegant experience that delivers retainable & retrievable information. While it may feel like reading entertainment, andragogy is like a brain hack that bridges short-term information with a long-term pursuit that becomes a commitment - or is committed to memory through a positive experience. With the help of Lyle Bogorad, Founder & CEO of Chromatic Clouds and a strategic partnership development champion, Kim and Lyle created an opportunity for qualified cannabis & hemp brands to get their products and services in the hands of businesses and consumers, alike. The story of "us" is ours and the stories of our client brands will continue to unfold and evolve with every issue of the "Monthly Sesh," which includes digital publications Harvest & Plume and The Cannabis Sessions, investor pitch events, and other need-to-know marketing information. Thank you for the opportunity to share our story as well as others.

Dege and KymB met at an NYC Women Grow event. KymB was the NYC Ambassador for Women Grow and offered to pour Dege a glass of wine. That was when the partnership was born. They quickly realized that they had the same vision for growing a tribe or a tight-knit community of customers, advocates, and CBD enthusiasts. KymB had used her health and fitness background to develop a plant-based, clean beauty product. She was looking for the right team to bring it to market, and Dege said "LET'S DO THIS" and the TRIBEAUTY line of CBD Clean Skincare was born.
In a market lacking transparency, their guiding principle is "never sell a product you wouldn't give your own mother or sister.
Degelis "Dege" Tufts and Kym Byrnes both believe in the healing power of cannabinoids.
As CBD industry continues to flourish, Degelis (Dege) and KymB are creating a community that elevates people. They want people to have access to ultra-healthy products that look sexy on store owners shelves. In a market lacking transparency, their guiding principle is "Never sell a product you wouldn't give your own mother or sister." Their community is a place where transparency, innovation, and empowerment are encouraged. The TribeTokes team is obsessed with developing healthy products with powerful therapeutic effects to empower people and businesses with the products, knowledge, and access they need to enrich their lives.
Dege and KymB both believe in the healing power of cannabinoids. Prior to Kym and Dege teaming up in 2017, Dege had already begun to pioneer the clean vaping movement while working with someof California's best vape formulators. Smoking flower irritated her already sensitive respiratory system, and vaping cannabinoids at lower temperatures solved this problem for her. However, there were very few trustworthy vaping options that were potent, lab-tested, and tasted good. After working with farmers, extractors, and chemists, she launched an all-natural, strain-specific proprietary line of vape oil. A few years ago, you rearely heard anyone talking about healthy CBD vapes. Back then, the average consumer didn't realize that most products had harmful additives that could damage their lungs and skin. It wasn't until the Vape Crisis of 2019 (also known as Vape Gate) that mainstream media, including Rolling Stone and Forbes, began to highlight companies like TribeTokes for making products in a clean way and without unhealthy additives or fillers.
Kym had used her health and fitness background to develop a plant-based clean beauty product. She was looking for the right team to bring it to market and Dege said "LET'S DO THIS" and the TRIBEAUTY line of CBD Clean Skincare was born.
Did You Know... Using TRIBEAUTY products such as the Superfood Mask or Pumpkin Peel are like salad bowls for your face? With ingredients such as spinach, kale and pumpkin, we say YES! to plant-based skincare!
"Being a woman in the cannabis industry, or any industry, is a difficult task. It takes balance and understanding to navigate these waters. There is a fine line and learning to walk that line is something one must do should you decide to LAV8 (Elevate). Be direct, yet not too blunt. Be kind, yet not a pushover. Be loving, as a mother, not as a potential mate.
And yet, it truly is a beautiful gift to be a ‘Woman in the Industry’ once you understand it all… as you see that you are building for your kids, your family, your community, the world… it is much bigger than just you when you think about it. The perspective." A Proverbs 31 Woman. -Mae Bereal

The Cannabis Report

In the human trials, cannabis exposure revealed "predominantly null findings" in adults ages 50 and older. In animal models, cannabinoid dosing was associated with "improved cognition" with small amounts of THC and more potent amount of THC, as well. The authors suggested to use caution in interpreting the studies' results because of their limited number and heterogeneity. However, the authors concluded, "This systematic scoping review examined current research on the relationship between cannabis use and cognitive function in healthy aging and provides a starting point for future research." "Ultimately, given the recent increase in cannabis use among older adults, future human research should examine the relationship between both early and later-life cannabis use on cognitive function within more homogenous, older adult samples of people who use cannabis."
Contributed By Michael Patterson
A team of researchers with the University of California at San Diego reviewed human studies and animal trials specific to the potential impact of cannabis on cognition. For the analysis, researchers analyzed six databases (PubMed, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Family and Society Studies Worldwide and CINAHL) and discovered over 1000 relevant studies, as of September 2019.
"Current research on the relationship between cannabis use and cognitive function in healthy aging and provides a starting point for future research."
Based on a recent review of applicable studies published in the Journal: Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology, cannabis exposure appears to have no significant adverse impact on the cognitive function of older adults. Adults over 50 years old represent the fastest-growing population of people who use cannabis. Given healthy aging and cannabis use are associated with cognitive decline, it is important to establish the effects of cannabis and cognition on healthy aging.

Analysis:
As more seniors look to cannabis as a medicine to help with multiple ailments, it is important for us to use as much research and data as possible to assist this demographic in feeling comfortable using an all-natural medicine in proper dosages to have a consistent result. In the largest medical cannabis market in the world (Florida - almost 500,000 patients), the average age of patient is 52 years old. The number of patients in Florida is increasing by 5000 each week!
The average senior citizen in the United States takes 13 prescribed medicines per day. From my experience in working in the US post-acute healthcare system for over 20 years (nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, pharmacies, laboratories), I saw first-hand how over medication can be just as detrimental to health as not being treated for an ailment. With our bodies containing an endocannabinoid system (ECS), we are naturally predisposed to accept cannabis as a medicine to decrease symptoms many disseases, decrease use of other prescription drugs due to no longer needing them, and to not have harsh side effects from certain prescription drugs, and for a better quality of life.

Ask Uncle Chuck
Good question! While some states do put THC limits on what can be sold as medical and what can be sold as recreational, the difference is mainly one of taxes and availability. The plant knows no difference. I guess you could argue what consitutes "having fun" and "feeling healthy." I tend to look at it from the point of view of the smile. Money and laws, both man-made, are the only true difference in medical vs recreational cannabis. As for the voter question, I gave up on predicting voter mentality in the early 80s.
"What's the difference between recreational and medical? I mean, why do some voters say "I'm all for medical, but recreational should remain illegal. Aren't they the same, with the exception of access to potency?"
