How to navigate the new website
A quick guide on where to find your favorite items on our newly-designed website
Q: Who needs to wear a mask on campus? A: Anyone who has not been fully vaccinated. Q: Will masks be required? A: No, not if you have been fully vaccinated! Yes, if you have not been fully vaccinated. Q: Can we wear a mask? A: Absolutely. Anyone can wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Q: What do you mean by "fully vaccinated"? A: Fully vaccinated means that it has been more than two weeks since you received your first dose of the J&J vaccine or the second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. Q: What If I've Had COVID, does that count as "fully vaccinated"? A: No. You must have had the actual vaccine. Q: If Someone is wearing a mask, does that mean that they have not been vaccinated? A: Not necessarily. Anyone is welcome to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Q: Will there be childcare? A: We do not anticipate having childcare for these services until the fall. Children are always welcome in our worship services. During the outdoor service, children are welcome to bring chalk to decorate the sidewalk during the service. Q: Will there be singing? A: Yes! We may have fewer hymns than normal, but the CDC and NYS Health Department allows for group singing. Unvaccinated persons will need to remain masked. Q: Do people have to show their vaccination cards to get in? A: No. Our first value as a congregation is being “open to all,” which means the vaccinated and un-vaccinated alike. Some members of our congregation will not be able to be vaccinated (currently no one under 12 is eligible). While we strongly advocate that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated, we are loath to segregate members of our congregation on the basis of their vaccination status. Q: Will there be coffee? Cookies? A: We will not have coffee or cookies available after or between the services through the summer. We will allow exceptions for specially-approved occasions like memorial service receptions. Q: Can I ask someone about their vaccination status? A: Our recommendation is to not ask about vaccination status as it has the potential to exclude members of the community who might not be able to receive a vaccination, are not eligible, or have a personal reason for not receiving a vaccination. Q: When will we return to our pre-pandemic worship schedule? A: While we hope to open more fully in the fall, we are not yet sure what our fall worship schedule will look like. We recognize that this last year has permanently changed the way that some people will worship with us, and we want to be open to adapting to the new reality faithfully. Q: When will the 9 am service move outside? A: The 9 am service will move outside from Memorial Day weekend (May 30) through Labor Day weekend (September 5), weather-permitting only. Q: How will we know if the outdoor service is canceled? A: As a rule: If it is raining, the service is canceled. We will also put a notice on our website by 8 am that morning, and we will send out a special email. If you would like to opt-in to receive these updates via text, simply text "join weather" to 844-239-5340 to be alerted when a 9am outdoor service is canceled this summer. Q: Can I come to the 11 am service? A: The 11 am service will remain live-stream only until the fall. Q: Will there be communion at any of the services? A: As of right now, we do not plan on having in-person communion prior to the fall. Q: Will there be CHairs for the outdoor service? A: While we encourage people to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for the outdoor service in order to avoid crowds at a chair rack, we do plan to have chairs available for those who may need them.
