About Digestion
Digestion is the most influential bodily process on our health. Our digestion impacts immune system function, vitamin and nutrient assimilation, hormonal balance, and even cognitive abilities and mood. The intestinal tract is lined with a special type of epithelial cell network that is constantly working to detect what is safe to enter the body and what is not. When a potential pathogenic invader enters the GI tract, It alerts the immune system, who then responds appropriately on our behalf. Our digestion, specifically the small intestine, is where we assimilate 90% of the nutrients from the food we consume. We absorb and manufacture vitamins and minerals in our digestion. We also produce and house important neurotransmitters in the gut such as serotonin. When healthy bacteria levels are low, pathogenic bacteria levels too high, or chronic inflammation and other issues degrade the mucosal lining of the GI tract for too long, a host of imbalances and disease can arise. However, maintenance of digestive integrity, and repair if digestion has been compromised is possible through the avoidance of provoking factors, allowing the digestion to rest, increasing beneficial gut flora, and favoring foods and herbs that help heal the intestinal wall. In the next few pages, read about about the different digestive types. Then, explore the road map that all types would follow to resolve their digestive issues and/or balance their weight. If you haven't yet, please take the digestive type quiz so you can indentify what your digestive type is! Here is that link
Four Digestive Types
Visham Agni (irregular): is most common in people who have anxiety and/or nervous tension. It manifests as irregular appetite, bloating after eating, constipation, cramps, dry stool and gas. The fluctuation of digestion leads to the production of toxins.. Conditions: Autoimmune disease, anxiety, arthritis, belching, bloating, breathing difficulty, constipation, degeneration, diarrhea, indigestion, gas, malabsorption, multiple food allergies, sleep apnea, systemic toxins, bacterial imbalance, IBS, SIBO, gut dysbiosis, insomnia. Bowels: dry, hard, diarrhea that vacillates with constipation or absence of movement, fats are visible from low functioning liver/gallbladder, which can be mistaken for mucus. Mind & Emotions: Irregular activity, changing mind with lots of ideas, start/stop approach to activity, anxiety, fear, worry. Causes: Stress, trauma, travel, antibiotic use, certain medications, poor diet. To regulate irregular digestion: Eat a simple diet of healthy and easy to digest foods. Identify and remove dietary triggers. Liquified soup fasts with a course of herbal antibiotics. Fermented foods introduced slowly in the right order. Herbal and oil enemas. Spices and herbs that support gallbladder function. Anti-inflmmatory protocol that heals the cell lining of the GI tract. Regulation of stress and worry. Developing a solid foundation of safety. Routine, clarity around purpose, goal setting, consistency.
Hot Digestion (Tikshna Agni): Is common in people who experience intense hunger with quick digestion. Excess heat causes nutrients to move quickly through the small intestine, and the person always feels hungry. Consequently many nutrients are not absorbed by the small intestine, and loose stools result. Lack of nutrient absorption can cause deficiencies. Systemic inflammation caused by hot digestion can lead to aches, pains, and headaches. Conditions: acid reflux, anger, autoimmune conditions, GERD, rosacea, acne, diarrhea, fast digestion, hemorrhoids, hyperthyroidism, hypersensitive immune system reactions, inflammation, diarrhea, yeast, candida, liver stagnation, constant hunger, candida, parasites. Mind/Emotions: Anger, irritation, control, difficulty delegating tasks, competition, workaholic tendencies, aggression, pushing, imposter syndrome, inadequacy. Causes: Antibiotics, high yeast diets, fast foods, stress, trauma. Bowels: can be normal/well formed loose. Constipation with skinny and snake-like movements, burning, formless, diarrhea, broken, green from excess bile. To Regulate Hot Digestion Cleanse the liver and blood. Be cautious with fermented foods. Use antibiotics that do not heat the body. Service to others, gratitude. Stress management. Faith based practices.
MANDAGNI (slow): Those with low digestive fire cannot healthfully digest even the smallest amounts of food properly. Inadequate digestion will inevitably create toxins often associated with bacterial imbalance, and is associated with slow digestion, weak hunger, a feeling of heaviness following meals, sluggish bowels and sticky stools. There are usually cravings for stimulants and sweets with weight gain. It doesn't seem to matter how much they reduce their calories they struggle to lose weight. You might have intense cravings for foods that are not healthy for you. You might gain weight easily or be overweight. You may feel sluggish and have a slow metabolism. You might crave sweet, fried, and heavy foods. Conditions: hypothyroidism, fatigue after eating, craving sweets and sugar, oozing excema, cysts, masses, growths, dairy and wheat allergies, weight gain, sluggish metabolism, SIBO, gut dysbiosis Bowels: Mucus in bowel movement is visible, feels incomplete, formless, heavy, slow. Mind/Emotions: Resentment, holding on to the past, regret, depression, co-dependency, internalization, over giving, martyrdom. Causes: Trauma, stress, neglect, betrayal, eating to many sweets, antibiotic use, poor diet. To regulate Slow Digestion Fasting, detoxification, cleansing. Heat, stimulation, exercise. Emotional cleansing, forgiveness, letting go of the past. A course of herbal antibiotics and ferments introduced in the right order. Lymphatic cleansing. Rising with the sun. .

The Healthy Gut & Weight Road Map
Mistake #1 Not Following A Diet For YOUR Constitution One of the biggest mistakes I see being made by my clients before they work with me is adopting a diet that does not take their digestive tendency, life responsibilities, and personal goals into account. A person who constantly travels for work, for example, will have different requirements than someone who works from their home. A person who feels guilty about eating animals will not do well on keto. It is essential that your diet supports who you are and is not impossible for you to follow. The right herbs and foods can enable you to complete a gut healing program without socially isolating you. Mistake #2 Not Using The Right Antibiotics To Balance Your Microbiome Balancing your microbiome is essential to gut healing and weight balance. Your gut microbiome influences your cravings, drives your behaviors, and affects your mood. When used correctly, fasting and antibiotics can accelerate your healing, balance your weight, and enhance a natural desire for healthier foods. For example, if you have hot digestion, it is crucial to use antibiotics that are cooling in conjunction with herbs cleansing for your liver and blood. Googling an herbal antibiotic and taking it without understanding these key differences can worsen your digestive issues. .
Mistakes To Avoid
Mistake #3 Not Addressing Stress, Mindset, Beliefs & Emotions There is a bidirectional relationship between your digestion and your brain. Your gut health influences your mood, energy, and ability to concentrate. Conversely, your emotions can powerfully influence your digestion. To balance your digestion and weight, it is essential to address your stress response, mindset, beliefs, and emotions. Healing your digestion and balancing your weight expands beyond dietary changes and forces us to examine and change the way we choose to live our lives. .
