As a Cornerstone member, you are more than an account holder – you are actually an owner of our credit union. Your membership includes the right to attend our Annual Meeting and vote for representation on our Board of Directors. The Annual Meeting also gives you the chance to hear about the health of our credit union and to ask questions of our Board and Management teams.
We hope to see you there!
Cornerstone CFCU Annual Meeting
Sunday, April 28
(Doors open at 1 p.m., and the meeting starts at 2 p.m.)
Cornell Cooperative Extension
4487 Lake Ave, Lockport, NY 14094
Please contact us at
email@example.com with any questions,
or call 716-434-2290.
For more information or to find out how you can donate to these local charities, visit any branch or call the credit union at 716-434-2290.
If you have visited one of the five Cornerstone branches recently, you may have noticed our team members wearing jeans. This is in support of a new charitable initiative called Generous Jeans Days. Employees may contribute money to wear jeans each Friday. All the money collected goes to a preselected local charity. So far, the staff has donated to the Gliding Stars skating program, the YWCA and the Stephanie Moore Verratti Memorial. Charities are chosen monthly by the various credit union departments.
It’s just another way Cornerstone gives back.
Timely communication with Cornerstone CFCU is the best course of action when working to resolve your current financial hardship. Call or meet with one of our Collection Officers at our Transit Road location and explain your current situation. We will do our best to work with you. The earlier you contact us during your financial hardship, the more we can help.
There are a couple options. If you have made a full payment for the past three months, we may be able to offer you an extension. If you are current on your loan payments, we may be able to offer you a Skip-A-Payment. Other stipulations apply to both programs.
Cornerstone CFCU may be able to work out a repayment plan that is mutually agreeable. Call us; we will be happy to explain our options to help you resolve this situation: 716-434-2290, option 4.
What If I Can’t Make My Minimum
at Cornerstone CFCU?
Be on guard when you receive phone calls advising that you have computer problems. This is a common scam worldwide and has likely swindled victims out of millions of dollars. This con job is known by many names: Tech Support Scam, PC Support Scam, Event Viewer Scam, TeamViewer Scam and Ammyy Scam. The last two names are legitimate remote connection tools used by scammers to connect to and take over your computer.
Here’s how you can spot this type of scam:
They called you. Microsoft®, HP®, Dell and other major technical support organizations will not use their resources to call you. They know that you will initiate the call to them if you have problems.
The name and accent don’t match. The scammer will usually have an extremely thick foreign accent but will claim that his (or her) name is something decidedly Western, such as “Bob.”
Your PC allegedly sends bad stuff. Scammers will claim that your computer is “sending error messages” or something similar. Even if this were true, how would Microsoft know this is your computer? There is no directory of computers that would lead them to track you down.
You’re asked to open your Event Log Viewer. The scammers want you to think that there is a problem by showing you that your system has errors. The presence of these routine glitches doesn’t mean your system is having any real problems or is infected by anything.
You’re asked to install a tool. The scammers want to infect your computer with malware, rootkits, keyloggers, etc. But first, they need a way in. They will ask you to install a legitimate remote connection tool and provide them with an ID number or some other number generated by the tool to gain access to your computer.
Hey, Microsoft Just Called
Because I Might Have a Computer Issue!
If You've Been Breached
The quickest way to get a scam caller off the phone is to tell them that you don’t have a computer at all. If you suspect you’ve been hacked, take appropriate steps to protect your information. Microsoft recommends uninstalling any applications the scammers asked you to install and resetting your device. If you’re unsure how to do this, consider taking your computer to a reputable repair place. Additional steps to safeguard your information can be found on our website in “Online Safety Tips,” located in “Products and Services.”
