Director’s Message: We’re back! While it has been a challenging time over the past year for everyone to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we also learned how important recreation, parks, and trails are for our physical, mental, and social health. I am so proud of our staff for their creativity, hard work, and passion to serve our community in different yet meaningful ways over the past year. I say “we’re back” because this is our first full-season activity guide in over a year. We’re delighted and energized to see people in our programs and utilizing facilities again. While it is great to be back, so-to-speak, we are still rebounding and rebuilding from the impacts that COVID-19 had on our operations like many others. The year 2021 marks the 30-year anniversary of the Chaska Community Center! This fall we will be embarking on the development of a Community Center Master Plan to establish a vision for the future of this facility and ensure it is meeting the needs of the community and fiscally sustainable. We will be establishing a citizen task force and seeking community feedback to help develop the plan. We are currently working on a pedestrian and bicycle master plan for the city which you can learn more about at our project website. Staff are planning the following community events that I encourage you to attend: Touch-A-Truck on August 19th Fire & Ice Festival & Bonspiel October 15th & 16th Jack-O-Lantern Trail of Fun on October 22nd Lastly, you may have noticed a new look to our activity guide. A big thanks goes to staff members Krista Tolstedt and Jaime Wiemann for their work designing and producing our activity guide which previously was contracted out. Discover the joy of making Music Together! Sing, laugh, move and learn along with your baby, toddler or preschooler in these award-winning classes. The goal of Music Together is to make the world a better place by making it more musical. We do this by bringing the highest quality music and movement experiences to children—and involving the grownups who love them in the magical process of development that only music can provide. The little ones love the engaging classes and the caregivers love helping their children grow into confident, life-long music makers. Classes are mixed-age so the siblings can be together. You will receive a CD of our current song collection, a code to download the music with the free ‘Hello Everybody’ app, an illustrated songbook and parent education materials.
