Owls have been busy recently making tiles in the Islamic style, learning about European countries, and closer to home, designing souvenir products for Sherborne. In particular, they have been enjoying their lessons taken by Miss Goodinson, a student teacher, who is making a great impact on them all. Science was a lot of fun - if a bit wet!!
The Foxes have been checking in with David Attenborough and learning about his new 'Re-wilding' campaign. They have also been learning about sound in science and went on a 'sound walk' to really engage with what, and how, they hear. In PE they have been beginning netball lessons, which will be a new range of skills for many. I have also heard them learning some interesting rhythms and singing outside with percussion accompaniments. It seems like Fox Class is always a fun place to be!
Hedgehogs held a Diwali Day this week, thinking about how others celebrate their religious festivals. They have also been out and about with Forest School and have been enjoying the fabulous weather (if a little cold) that we have had this week, at every opportunity. Mrs Finley has now swapped with myself to be teaching in the class on Monday afternoons when she will take the children for science and PE.
I must say that I am so impressed by all of the children this week and thank you to parents who have adapted to our new routines once again. Staff have also adapted brilliantly and I thank them for their continued professionalism.
Term 2 Week 1 - Nov 6th 2020
Mrs O'Kane has worked at the school for four years and in this time she has been a dedicated and vital member of the school team. It was my pleasure to work directly with her in KS1 for two years and she will be sorely missed by staff and pupils alike.
We wish her well in her next ventures and remind her that once Sherborne, 'Sherborne for Life' - she will always be welcome back to join us in events, when normal routines resume.
This week we say goodbye to Mrs O'kAne & thank her for her work at the school
Remember to think about fire safety, if you are celebrating bonfire night
Please only bring in essential items to school (coats, book bags, lunches, water-bottles). Additional warm clothing can also be worn under uniform due to new ventilation measures.
Going forward when am and pm clubs are at capacity, key worker children will have priority. Please be understanding in this matter.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing Mr Moore a speedy recovery from Covid-19. It is a worrying time for everyone, but please be assured that the school is taking all possible precautions to reduce the risk of infection. Mr Moore tells me that although he is very tired, otherwise he is doing well.
