As the Holiday Season grows near, we are busy planning new programs and hiring staff for 2021. We are experiencing a lot of pent up demand for camp this fall and expecting a big spring season kick off as we get closer to March. The signals from the State of Massachusetts Governor's office have also been positive for 2021. We do anticipate that COVID protocols will remain in place for summer camps, but an available vaccine will be a huge game changer regarding the guidelines impacting our summer program. Our confidence has grown tremendously from last summer in managing a camp community in pandemic times. We have always felt that creating a bubble (if needed) in a pristine outdoor environment is a great foundation to work with, in addition to BOH and CDC protocols for insulating and maintaining a healthy camp. We are planning more fun and novel additions to our “in house” camp program next summer. Some of these adaptations include but are not limited to: A re-imagined intramural league schedule that will be the most interesting and engaging alignment of in-camp competitions and mini tournaments we have ever had. Weekly group cookout campfires. We have built a number of campfire areas throughout camp which will enable us to have small group cookouts each week. Added daily hiking and a fitness trail in the camp woodland that surrounds the Camp Lenox property that will create a more robust outdoor experience. Movies under stars for all groups. Weather permitting, daily outdoor picnic lunches. More varied and group special events throughout the summer. We will continue to stay in touch with our monthly newsletters and social media. Please feel free to contact us with your questions anytime, and we look forward to hearing any and all family news. Thanks for all your trust and support, Rich and Stephanie
Happy Thanksgiving

The Lenox Leader
Keep the Torch Burning

Campfire at Old Pitch
"My first memory of RP was him following his mother up the camp road past the lodge. He was basically a toddler. I remember a joyful look in his eyes when he walked around." Morgan
"I always have the memory of RP lower senior year almost living in the office. He was more at home in the lodge than the fields and always had new ideas about how to set up the most "up to date" sound systems that seemed like a fortune. But, he would always say "I just found a deal or auction, and it costs only a faction of the retail price". I never could say no even to the 14 year old he was." Rich
Welcome to Florida, Ross!
"I'll never forget the first time I saw Ross at the waterfront. He had these huge snorkel like goggles covering half of his face and an even huger grin covering the other half - Alas, despite his enthusiasm, I never quite managed to teach him how to dive!" Luke
Ross (better known around camp as RP) began his Lenox career in 2002, at the tender age of 3-years-old and has been there every summer since! His older brother was a camper and his mom was one of our doctors in residence for 1-2 weeks each summer. Ross would come with his mom and during that time developed a love for Lenox, participating in many of the activities and events where able. Ross graduated to being a full-time camper in 2005. He was not your typical Lenox camper, indeed, he would be the first to admit that he was not the most sporty of kids, but he always put in maximum effort which garnered the respect of both his peers and the staff. As Ross aged, he grew into his own and became a firm fixture in the behind the scenes work of the “Big Show”. As a teen camper, he began to help out with technical issues in the office and also became the voice of "Good morning Camp Lenox, it's another beautiful day in the Berkshires" along with a wake-up playlist that has been on repeat every morning since. His group leader would often have to remind him that he was still a camper and even force Ross to have “camper days” where he was required to be with his group and not be in the office! After his Collegian summer, Ross did not plan to return to Lenox to be on staff - how were the office staff going to cope, we hear you cry. Never fear, a week before staff orientation was due to begin, Rich receives a phone call from Ross asking if there room for him on staff - truthfully there really wasn’t, but how could Rich say no to such a Lenox legend? Ross balanced being a counselor with continuing to assist the office staff with technical issues and also running the technical theatre program. His third year on staff saw Ross up his role in the office, becoming our Transportation Director; coordinating all the travel to and from airports, first and last day coaches, tournaments at neighboring camps, group trips to movies, malls, and other venues. He even took control of doling out golf cart keys! And, of course, he was still the go-to guy for anything and everything technical. That brings us to the infamous year known as 2020. In a year filled with chaos and sorrow, there was a silver lining in store for Camp Lenox - Ross graduated college, came to camp to help with the strangest summer on record, created our new website, and capped it off by moving to Florida and helping us out in the winter office.
"I have a very clear image of 4 yr old "Rossy" in the Arts & Crafts center, sitting quietly at a table, contently working on a project. In what seemed to be a couple years, RP grew up before my eyes! He adapted and changed each and every summer, until he KNEW that he could live and feel the pulse of Camp Lenox" Stef

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, we thought it would be fun to call on our campers' creativity with a festive competition. All you need to do is draw around your hand and turn the resulting outline into a turkey, like the example opposite. However, that would be a little too simple, so we want you to decorate your turkey so that it displays Lenox Spirit! We will post all entries on our Instagram and of course there will be Lenox swag winging it's way to the creator of the winning design! So what are you waiting for? Get creative and email us a picture of your design to be in with a chance to win! Good Luck!
