Single as a PringleTM.
Want to mingle?
Give me a jingle.
You give me a tingle!
But I got to stay home,
Because I've got the shingles!

Chinese New Year
By: Sydney Krause
新年快乐! That's "Happy New Year" in Chinese. This year, Chinese New Year fell on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, and the festivities lasted until February 19, 2019. In Chinese Zodiac, 2019 is the Year of the Pig. The pig is the twelfth of all the Zodiac. In Chinese culture, pigs are a symbol of wealth and fortune.
We've covered dates and zodiac, but I'm pretty sure the most important part of the New Year is the food. Family is very signifigant in Chinese society, especially for New Year Eve's dinner. All family members are supposed to come back for the delicious feast. Some of the delicious food featured at this feast are Spring rolls, Dumplings, Noodles, Steamed Fish, Steamed Chicken, and Nian gao. Some desserts they eat are Rice balls, Turnip cake, and Fa Gao. Some snacks and candy they eat are ginger candy, fried dough twists, and peanut candy. Many people dress up in new, beautiful clothes for the New Year. That's just a couple facts about Chinese New Year, but I hoped you learned something.
In the New Year, many people are lacking new, interesting, exciting books to read. A lot of times they’ve read all the greatest books in the past year, and have run out of ideas of new ones to read. So if you’re lacking fresh ideas, I've got you. I will be asking a few people some suggestions of books they have read, and they will give a short review. Listed down below are the suggestions they have given me.
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella (Suggested by Ava Ocker)
“Anxiety makes eye contact hard for Audrey but when her brother’s friend Linus shows up at her house, she finds it easier to reach out. This is a great story of discovering your true abilities.”
Land of Stories by Chris Colfer (Suggested by Amelia Furlo)
“This story is about 11-year-old twins whose father passed away, and they now live with their mother who works around the clock, so they don’t see her very often. Their grandmother gives them a book of fairy tales, and then they transport to a land in which all fairytales are alive. (6 book series)”
Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson (Suggested by Sydney Krause)
“This book is about a fourteen-year-old Mattie Cook who is living in a coffeehouse in Philadelphia with her mother and her grandfather. One day, one of the maids, Polly, breaks out with a fever and dies shortly afterward. More cases pop up, and soon this epidemic is everywhere. Soon after, her mother falls ill, and they have to leave the city. Follow their journey as they try to escape the yellow fever epidemic of 1793.”
Abstract Algebra 2 by a lot of different authors (Suggested by Mr. Weiss)
We Regret To Inform You by Ariel Kaplan (Suggested by Lucy Pether)
“This book is about a really smart girl who goes to a high school that she got a scholarship to because her family is very poor. She applies to a lot of good colleges, but she doesn’t get into any of them. She decides to investigate why she doesn’t get into them, and some of her friends help her along the way.”

Benefits of being single:
Don't you love being single? Nobody to make you do anything (except your parents of course), not having to spend tons of money on one person and a lot of more stuff. So today,I'm going to tell you three of the TONS of benefits of of being single (aside from the two I just told you about).
Benefit #1: you don't have to focus almost all your time and attention into one person. Benefit#2: No one can control you. What I mean by this is nobody makes you take them to get a pedicure or buy tons of chocolate and that kind of stuff.
Benefit#3: You can eat whatever you want. What I mean by this is that no will make you go to a restaurant where a simple soda is $20. Being single is great, so don't worry if you are single on Valentine's Day! -Logan Stoffel

Cupid was originated from Greek mythology, but was named Eros before the Romans adopted and renamed him. In the mythology, he is the god of attraction and affection. He is often depicted as the son of the love goddess Aphrodite. Cupid is known in Latin as Amor which means love. He originally was seen as a handsome immortal by the people of the Archaic period until the Hellenistic period, where he was seen as a chubby, loveful child. -Dom Maniscalco

What's up with the Snow Days?
Lately, LGMS has already has faced multiple snowdays in 2019. What a great start to the year, huh? Our school district has a limit for three snow days per school year, and guess how many snow days we’ve had… six! We started going over the limit after we had three snow days in one week. These days would've added to the end of the school year. Thanks to the school district, they have figured out a way to make us not add more days to the end of the school year. After this month’s late start/early release (February 14, 2019), We will no longer have any more late starts. Every second Thursday will be a normal day. But, that’s not all. February 22nd, a Friday, is going to be a full day, (which was originally going to be a teacher’s in-service day). Also, April 22nd, a Monday, will be a full day which was originally an off day. The late start dates are March 14th, April 11th, and May 9th.
Q: I’ve been crushing on someone, but he doesn’t notice me. What should I do?
A: Maybe try and talk to him! Get to know him and have him get to know you. Or, if you don’t want to talk face-to-face, you could try texting him to start.
Q: How do you get someone to answer your emails?
A: This person may not usually use email as their prime source of communication. Maybe just ask them in person that if they had a chance, that they should check out their email or talk to them face-to-face.
Q: How can I get 45 minutes of Membean this week?
A: I would start by doing 15 minutes during homeroom on Mondays. Usually teachers will give you 15 minutes during class on block days twice a week. Or, if you want reading time during class, do it in a study hall if possible.
