July 2021
It's finally beginning to feel like things are getting back to normal! School's out and we're hoping you and your families are enjoying the warm weather, recreational sports, local parks, and community events! Speaking of events, we held our first event since 2019 in May with our Picnic in the Park. Our Touch-A-Truck event scheduled for June was unfortunately canceled due to weather. The good news is that we have decided to reschedule Touch-A-Truck for Saturday, September 18th! We just wrapped our very 1st Joint Freedom Parade with The Village of Maineville. We were so happy to see the community so well represented. We had a large amount of participants representing their school groups, businesses, youth activities, classic vehicles and so much more. The parade ended at Testerman Park with food trucks, music, face painting, crafts, balloon art and a spectacular skydiving show to finish! We must say, it's great to see our community out and about again! Be sure to check out our event page for more summer fun ahead! Our Board of Trustees have been hard at work taking our community's feedback into consideration regarding issues and making plans to improve our Township as a whole. New parking regulations have been implemented that our police department can now enforce. This includes limitations to the amount of time a vehicle can remain in one spot on a public street (72 hours, by the way). We are also exploring snow emergency parking regulations to assist our plow drivers with maneuverability and better plowing for our residents. All of these topics were discussed during our Trustee Meetings. Improvements to Mounts Park have begun, including archaeological site studies and required permitting that will benefit the park for generations to come. Be sure to check out the new benches that have been installed around both lakes and the walking trails.
a sigh of relief

The Hamilton Township Police Department takes great pride in each of the outreach programs we have created that help to unite us as a community. We believe our hard work in creating these programs has contributed to the exemplary relationships and level of respect that exists between us and our residents. Some of these programs include Coffee with a Cop, Cones with a Cop, Self Defense Training, National Night Out, The Citizens Police Academy, and this year we introduced a Junior Police Academy. We just wrapped up our very 1st Junior Academy for students between 5th and 7th grades. This program offered students the opportunity to experience the methods and techniques often used in law enforcement. It consisted of daily exercises, scenarios, and training; helping cadets build an understanding of the profession while focusing on problem solving and the role of the Police Officer as a public servant. It was so popular that we will offer it again next summer! We're excited to announce our Citizens Police Academy will be returning later this year. This will be our 4th year! This Academy is a great opportunity for community members to grow in their knowledge of public safety. Topics include Functions of Government, Criminal Investigations, K9, SWAT, Drug Task Force Operations, Traffic Stops and more! Graduates can then stay in touch with the force and classmates by joining the Alumni Association. This association gathers at other CPA classes and community events to show their continued support of the HTPD and the community as a whole. We, of course, think this Academy & Alumni Association are a fantastic program, but don't take our word for it. Here's what one of our graduates had to say. We're excited to see all of you at the upcoming community events. Up next... getting to know you at National Night Out, Floating (hopefully) at The Little Miami Area Chamber Cardboard Boat Regatta, snapping pictures at the Sunflower Field, and giving you an up close look at the rescheduled Touch-A-Truck that is a community favorite event!
COMMUNITY POLICING
"I signed up because I felt the need to get involved and learn more abut the department in my community. It was pretty cool to see all the equipment they use and learn about the Court process in Warren County, but I was most struck by the appreciation the Officers showed the Citizen's Police Academy members at community functions. They really appreciated us being there to help out so they could interact with residents or other agencies and I'd love to see it continue to grow." -Teresa McGinnis (2018 Graduate, Citizen's Police Academy)
Two of the Core Values of Hamilton Township Fire/ Rescue are caring for people first and community involvement. This means we have a stake in the welfare of our residents before the emergency happens. When you look at the vibrant community we live and work in, it is easy to forget that some members struggle with food security, transportation to medical appointments, or become isolated because of disability or advanced age. These members of our community can fall through the cracks unnoticed until someone has their worst day that ends with an ambulance ride to the hospital or a tragic fire loss. Your firefighters want to do all we can to prevent these worst days before they happen and help our at-risk residents feel secure in their homes. To that end, HTFR is excited to introduce our new Community Safety Initiative. This new program consolidates some of our older programs such as smoke detector checks and home safety inspections with new programs like security key box loaners (based on need and availability) and periodic home health assessments. We can also refer those in need to resources provided by Warren County’s Elderly Services and the Council on Aging. These programs can have a huge impact on the life of someone in need. If you are a Hamilton Township Resident, or know one, who could benefit from any or all of these services, call our station at 513 683-1622, Monday through Friday from 7-3 and ask for Captain Goodpaster. We are committed to being there for you, before the emergency. Don't forget, you never know when you may face a situation where your quick actions may save a life. Sudden Cardiac Arrest and bleeding emergencies claim many lives a year. Hamilton Township Fire/ Rescue provides training in CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed. You never know when you may be called upon to be a hero for someone else. Call to schedule a class today. Click here to learn more about the HTFR.

BEHIND THE CURTAIN
You may not be very familiar with the faces of our Public Works Crew unless you have had to call them to your residence. Their work often goes unnoticed. However, we assure you if they were not hard at work, you would suddenly notice what wasn’t getting done! They are our behind the scenes crew; mowing our parks and right of ways while you’re at work; patching potholes throughout the Township after you’ve hit one too many times and call it in to us; performing ditch re-grading after you suddenly have a flooded front yard; replacing culverts that aren’t providing the proper water flow under that small bridge you travel over daily; assisting and performing the burial of a loved one; plowing our roads while you’re peacefully asleep on a cold winter’s night. This is just a few of the services our public works crew offers to our community. Do you know all of those community events you and your family and friends love to attend? They take every department at Hamilton Township coming together to execute. Our Public Works crew are the beginning, end, and everything in between to ensure these events are executed safely, efficiently, set up and broken down; without our residents even noticing. Which is the way we like it! They are the men behind the magic curtain of each and every event. For Earth Day, they organize all of our materials and equipment and are the muscle behind the large tasks; Memorial Day, they place a flag on every single veteran’s grave in Hamilton Township to honor their service to our country; Touch-A-Truck, they transport all of the cones and barricades and assist with vendor setup; all while also participating in showing off our equipment; The Freedom Parade, they assist with road closures, parade & stage set up and honk and wave as an entry; The Sunflower Field, they prepare the field, plant, and water these beautiful blooms; The Tree Lighting Celebration, they are the elves behind all of the magical lights and decorations. They do it willingly, with a smile and always go above and beyond. So next time you see one of our crew, be sure to stop and say hello.

Service Area will include Hamilton Township, Deerfield Township, Union Township, Maineville, Hopkinsville, Loveland Park and Kings Mill. Hamilton Township is required to be audited by the State of Ohio or an independent auditor that is accredited through the state. Instead of waiting 5 years as required, we choose to schedule an Audit every year to ensure your tax dollars and documents are maintained with the utmost detail and transparency. We are happy to announce that the State of Ohio just certified Hamilton Township’s 2020 Audit and it is perfect! What is an Audit? The Auditor spends weeks with the Township staff and inspects any documents they choose. Some examples of what the Auditor examined this year are: ·Tax settlements ·Board of Trustee Meeting Minutes ·All Resolutions approving original or final appropriations ·Personnel listing and contact information ·All financial transactions ·Payments and receipts ·Payroll ·Public Records requests (fulfilled and denied) ·Records Retention Schedule ·Insurance enrollments and payouts ·Cash disbursements ·Bank reconciliations ·All 1099’s ·W-2’s of Elected Officials ·and anything else the Auditor decides to inspect Ellen Horman is the Assistant Fiscal Officer and handles all financial aspects of Hamilton Township. Kellie Krieger is the Human Resources Manager and handles all Public Records and Payroll. These two ladies work with the Audit team to produce each document as requested and together performed Hamilton Township’s 7th Perfect Audit!

Our community lined the streets of downtown Maineville, held parade viewing parties in their yards, and flocked to Testerman Park to take in the sights of our very 1st Freedom Parade! The parade participants lined up early to put the final touches on their cars & floats, practice their performances and organize the candy to toss to spectators. We were happy to have such a wide variety of participants show up to put themselves on display for our community! .
