Level 3 BTEC Sport
Sports Coaching & Development
A TYPICAL WEEK INVOLVES A MINIMUM OF 16 HRS OF STUDY
This qualification is intended as a 2 year programme for post 16 students. It is equivalent to up to 3 A Levels and is intended for those wanting to progress directly into employment as a coach. In addition, the breadth of content in this qualification allows learners to progress to a large variety of Higher Education and Degree level courses.
OVER 95% SUCCESS RATE
Progression A substantial number of students progress to university each year. Popular undergraduate courses include Sports Science, Sports Development, PE Teaching and Sports Psychology, as well as Business and Management programmes. Other learners progress to work or on to an apprenticeship.

Why Long Eaton United Community FC Academy? Our Academy is designed to aid and support those players wishing to continue pursuing a career in sport with a programme of structured training and developmental sessions, with the clear aim of enhancing the learners individual and team skills. In addition to outstanding classroom education, our programme is unrivalled in its work-based learning experiences that prepare students for both the workplace and university on completion of the course. Alongside their football playing curriculum, all students will be afforded the opportunity to develop their coaching and wider skills within the academy, our wider football club and local schools programme. Learners will be given the opportunity to complete their FA Level One in coaching; an extracurricular course that informs learners of the technical demands of a coach whilst training them in safeguarding and administering first aid. Our close working relationship with Long Eaton United Football Club’s Youth Section, our local schools programme and the organisation and planning of a wide range of charitable events, both sporting and otherwise, has opened up numerous working opportunities for our learners that help develop their skills as individuals and team members both inside and outside the sporting environment. Ultimately, the skills acquired and knowledge gained will equip each of our students to better understand and be suitably prepared for the requirements of their chosen future workplace or university as well as their football career going forwards. All learners offered the opportunity to join our Academy do so knowing that the programme they sign up to has been specifically designed to blend football and education in a way that helps them progress to the next level on their chosen career path. Course Structure A typical week for a Level 3 student is made up of 16 hours of study, with the rest of the time dedicated to work experience. Learners work alongside highly trained staff to gain relevant experience of sports coaching and PE delivery.

THERE ARE NO EXAMS IN THESE LEVEL 3 QUALIFICATIONS QualQUALIFICATIONS
Units include:
5 GCSEs at grade 4 and above (including English and Maths). If you have grades D/3 or below you will need to continue to study on GCSE or Functional Skills, depending on the grades you have obtained. We provide weekly taught lessons with a specialist tutor, where students are supported in how to pass the appropriate examination, provided with feedback on completed work and guidance on how to improve.
