Home already after another fantastic Spain Week Event! Thanks to everyone who joined us this year, I really hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Not home a wet week and already we have over 100+ dancers booked again for next year. That's phenomenal. 2017 is going to be an epic event & something to really look forward to. All the details & booking forms can be found HERE. It's going to be a terrific week, don't miss it! Well done to Rosie & Marie and everyone involved on the amounts raised in aid of the Buncrana tragedy fund. The Ulster & Connaght nights were a huge success! I'm currently working on the Munster one, with Maggie Cadwell organizing the one for Leinster. As soon as the details are available we'll let you all know the when & where. With so much happening lately we FINALLY get to celebrate our 17th anniversary with a party night in Kilbeheny at the end of May. We hope to see a lot of you there as we party on well into the night on May 28th! And of course don't forget the Éist Cancer Support Center Marathon also coming up on the 28th. It promises to be a great day. All the details can be found in the February edition of the Magazine & on Valerie's page this month. Currently inundated with requests for tickets for our 'Summer Sizzler' event in the Ambassador hotel on June 12th, I can tell you they will be available from this week so don't panic. You can get them from teachers or in classes or simply send us a text or an e-mail to sizzler@inline.ie to reserve yours. Finally we're delighted to welcome Anne-Marie home and wish her a very speedy recovery! It's so good to have you back! Xx Have a great month everyone.
Back with a brand New Album, Keith Urban is once more about to rule our dance floors.
Certainly no stranger the linedance community, there's a distinct buzz going around on the release of Keith Urban's new album 'Ripcord' Currently sitting at No 1 for the second week in the Australian Charts, it is sure to follow suit around the world, giving him yet another hugely massive hit & filling our dance floors for the next few months with dances hot on it's heels. Two of the tracks 'The Fighter' & 'Blue ain't your color' are already starting to do the rounds. Although born in New Zealand and raised in nearby Australia, Keith made his biggest splash in Nashville, where he helped rewrite the rules of contemporary country music. By embracing drum loops and elements of Top 40 pop, Urban wrote songs that appealed to a wide audience, effectively satisfying his Nashville fans without alienating those more accustomed to pop music. He also became a genuine celebrity, known for his good looks, his marriage to Nicole Kidman, and his outspoken battle with alcoholism. Even so, it was the music that maintained Urban's career, from his work with the Ranch during the late '90s to the acclaimed solo albums that followed.
Fab Four Road Trip
It feels like a long time since our last write up – or is it just “old timers” setting in…??!! Even trying to remember what we did back in April and May is hard!! April 2nd – rain, rain and more rain!! What a night, but we ventured up to Ray’s Country Weekend. Only went for the one night as “some” of our group couldn’t do two nights of country…. not naming names…. Tina…..!! But it was a great night. Lots of great dances, including some oldies, which eventually came back to us by the fourth wall. Jane and Statia also joined us for this one – so full table!! Couldn’t even share a table with Sparkles and Pappa Smurf, as our groups were too big, but we visited them often between dances. And Patsy brought the jelly shots – much to the enjoyment of Lisa and TJ…. well, mainly Lisa…!! On the 16th April we headed up to Ryston Linedancers in Newbridge for their hoedown in aid of Newbridge Cancer Support Group. Great night!! As usual, we were “delayed” in Patsy’s house getting our “take-away” drinks ready….. one for you, one for me, one for you, two for me!! - But we eventually got there. Sharon Kelly was very kind to keep us good seats near the dance floor. Although, to be fair, all the seats were near the dance floor – but they were near the front, and it’s the thought that counts – thank you Sharon!! We danced the night away and were even given tea and cakes/crisps – much appreciated!! And Bernie brought our lovely fruit box which is now part of our dance trips!! There was a great turnout for the night from all over the country. And I must say, Tony’s hat and new boots were only gorgeous – you are turning into a proper cowboy….!! And then we had our week in Spain with Michael O’Shea. This year, though, there were only the three amigos, as Bernie didn’t join us. Be we soldiered on without her. And of course had Peggy with us too. The sun shone down on us again, and it was absolutely heavenly there!! The usual fun-loving crowd were present – all ready and willing for all the activities that were planned for the week. And we were doing soooooo well, only having the few cocktails every day!! Then disaster struck when Anne-Marie hurt herself. But we kept going as best we could and even managed to dance a bit for her. We had to leave her in Spain with her family, which was hard, but we knew she was on the mend and being well looked after by her husband and daughter. And thankfully she is now home and making a steady recovery. Not ready for dancing yet, but its just great to have her back!! We have the Éist Line Danceathon on Saturday, 28th May in The Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow. This is in aid of the Eist Cancer Support Centre in Carlow. Danceathon from 12 noon until 8pm, followed by a social night starting at 9.30pm till late. Looking forward to this – and meeting up with a lot of old aquaintences from all over the place. And the bar is all stocked and ready for the road trip!! We also have Michael’s Summer Sizzler on 12th June in The Ambassador Hotel, Cork, 5pm till late (Workshop, Dinner, Dancing). Looking forward to that too!! So… it has been an eventful few months, but we are getting back on track. Bring on the summer months when we can enjoy so much more dancing!! Since coming back from Spain at the start of May, we unfortunately haven’t been getting out to hoedowns, but that will all change going forward …… watch this space!! We are ready, willing and able to venture forth again!!! See you on the floor somewhere soon!!!
Coming soon to a venue near you, our roving reporters bring you the latest news & views from dance floors all around the Country.

Riding on the crest of a wave at the moment having just scooped the prize for 'Best Music Video' at this years Irish TV Country Music Awards, Hurricane Highway are fast becoming another great success story for Irish breakout artists.
Hurricane Highway smashed onto the scene in 2014 with the release of their massive hit singles 'Your Man' & 'Yeah' The U.S. styled five piece band produce an exciting big acoustic rock sound with a sprinkling of American country. Fronted by Ed Holland and Kevin Collins two well established singers & guitarists in their own right, they can both lay claim to years of road worn street cred. They have individually, both recorded and toured internationally, on numerous occasions. Right from the get go they decided only the highest quality recordings, songs and videos would be acceptable for the new setup. They have stuck by their guns and that dedication to detail is certainly paying off with radio plays and video views. Find them touring Ireland & the UK this summer starting with a massive gig - 'Hooley at the house' in Westport on June 12th.

Straight from the tropical sounds of Torremolinos it should come as no surprise to anyone that we are loving everything Latin at the moment and one Enrique Iglesias is constantly on play at Dance Crazy HQ, bringing us hope for a long and hot summer! His latest album Sex & Love is certainly keeping that vibe alive and it's only natural that we would want to bring that enticing sound onto the dance floor as well. Check out Gary's latest 'Corazon Diamante' co written with Maggie G & Roy Verdonk as featured in this months Hot Off The Press section & my latest dance Bailando (No Stress) which will be released at next months 'Summer Sizzler' event. Connemara
on Ireland
Culture, scenery, cuisine, music & the warmest of welcomes, if you really want to experience the true nature of Ireland then heading west is a must. The sights & sounds of Connemara are honestly unbeatable. Smoke from the peat fire, ancient stone walls keep an eye on swaying bog grasses blanketing the rugged landscape - the remoteness of the region has most certainly contributed to Connemara holding on to it's traditions. Unspoiled acres, native ponies & traditional pubs evokes the essence of old Ireland, while the Irish language, music, dance and literature are all found in abundance here. Bound by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, north & south the strong sea faring tradition is evident in bowls of seafood chowder, flecked with meaty mussels served up on bar tables. The sweet local crab is legendary. The traditional art of smoking the wild Atlantic salmon, mackerel and tuna, that lands daily at Bunowen Pier in Ballyconneely, is a skill worth seeing and, of course, tasting. Skip inland from the ocean, and there’s another treat for the table - Connemara Hill Lamb. It’s succulent, sweet and special enough to be recognized as a unique European food product with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certification. Trad musicians, telling the stories & fables of Ireland have been passed down over centuries. If you're looking for the essence of Ireland, add Connemara to your bucket list.
It's hard to believe that we're back already from another fantastic Spain Week. All the wishing the months away for it to come around and we're back to doing that again for next years one! As always we try & make it the best of both worlds with a great week of dancing but also equally important - the holiday & having fun part! I think we combine those elements really well. 2017 will be our 12th year running the event and it just keeps getting bigger & better. The Bajondillo apartments are the perfect venue & always look after us so well. The air conditioned ballroom is ideal & the complex is central and safe. I can honestly say all our dancers love it there. With the beach just a stones throw away and all the amenities literally at hand, you'll understand why we go back time & time again. Next year is no exception and true to form, the bookings for 2017 have already passed this years numbers. It's lovely to meet new people year on year and I love seeing all the new friendships formed between my own dancers and the new people joining us. Huge thanks to Rosie & Daniel for helping me out with the workshops this year & hopefully we'll have Sandra back in her rightful place again on stage with us next year. It was also lovely to catch up with Joan O'Gorman & spend time with her on a dance floor again. And also big smiles for the blossoming romance! Are Dance Crazy about to notch up our second wedding? Are hat sales gonna go through the roof! Love is in the air.. watch this space! ;-) Booking forms for 2017 can be found HERE.
