Our aim is to cultivate inquisitive minds through investigation and questions, enabling children to make their own discoveries through thoughtfully planned activities.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the starting point of each child's learning journey and is designed to build the foundations of learning in a safe, supportive and caring environment filled with opportunities. Children in our Nursery enjoy a broad curriculum, providing fun and inviting opportunities to further their learning and knowledge through playing and doing. We encourage independence, enquiring minds, imagination and communication and believe that a happy child is more open to learning.

Personal, Social and Emotional: helping children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others; Communication and Language: giving children opportunities to experience a language rich environment; Physical: providing opportunities for young children to be active and interactive; to develop their co-ordination, control and movement.

The Curriculum
The role of the Key Person
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides a broad, flexible curriculum catering for a wide range of needs and abilities. Pupils access the curriculum through practical experiences and structured play activities both in the indoor and outdoor environment.
Each child is assigned to a ‘Key Person' who is responsible for co-ordinating their development and learning. The Key Worker will share your child's progress with you, however, due to sessional children and part-time staff they may not always be present every day that your child attends. We believe it is important for our children to form good relationships with all of our staff as all play a part in supporting your child in becoming settled, happy and feel secure.

We understand that this may be the first time that your child has spent time away from you, so we will work with you on an individual basis. Our expectation is that you stay with your child for at least one taster session arranged prior to their start date. This would normally last for around an hour and gives you the opportunity to explore the setting with your child, time to talk to staff and ask any questions you may have.

A Key Person has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and building relationships with their parents.
Settling in to our Nursery
A Key Worker will:
Help your child settle in Help your child feel safe Respond sensitively to meet the needs of your child Record development and progress Set any targets with parents Support the transition within and beyond this setting
Our Nursery ethos is to be consistently warm, supportive and inclusive of both children and adults. We recognise your role as a parent is extremely valuable and you will always be your child's main carer.
Your Key Person should be available at the start and end of day collection. In line with our open door policy any team member will be happy to be consulted and support you in respect of your child.
