I would like to start by thanking Jeff David for putting together the Mad-Warren drive. It was the biggest drive I have seen since being active with the Porsche Club. The roads were amazing and the new pavement was a joy to drive. With the weather not cooperating, it just goes to shows how amazing these vehicles are; still giving us the confidence to drive enthusiastically. I would also like to thank Pyra Pizzeria for accommodating our large group. The service was amazing, as was the pizza. If you are ever in the area of Norwalk and hungry, give them a visit. You won’t regret it.
I hope the positive trend in participation in the various club events continues in the future. It was a pleasure to see some old friends again, as well as meet some new members. Unfortunately, I was not able to get around and speak with all the new members, but I see it as a positive that there were so many new faces. It’s a joy to get the emails from nationals informing me of new members to our chapter.
Our next few events will be the Dragoon Trail drive, Cars and Coffee, and Drive and Dine. The Dragoon Trail drive will depart from the Iowa Machine Shed restaurant and will be a partial day drive. For those who are not able to attend the drive, we will still have the chance to gather at Cozy Café for Cars and Coffee. Our next Drive and Dine will be picnic style at a shelter at Saylorville Lake. Bring your own food and grilling skills as a grill will be available.
Saturday, May 8th
The Dragoon Trail follows the path of the 1st U.S. Dragoons, cavalry soldiers who scouted Iowa in 1835 after the Black Hawk Purchase put the area under U.S. government control. The trail roughly tracks along the course of the Des Moines River from Fort Dodge through Des Moines to Knoxville and Lake Red Rock.
We will depart from the Machine Shed/Hotel Renovo (11167 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA), and drive to Fort Dodge where we will have lunch at Amigo's, (280 N. 1st St, Ft Dodge, IA). After lunch we will continue our tour, driving back towards Des Moines. The tour will end at the Phillips 66 gas station in Boone (315 Story St). Be sure to have a full tank of gas since there is no 91 available until Boone on the way back.
Driver's meeting @ 8:30 with the first group scheduled for an 8:45 departure. A few days before the drive we will email you the directions to print and bring with you as a reference to follow the drive. Please bring cash for lunch to speed departure and remember your Schonesland name tag. We will have name tags for guests

SAVE THE DATE!
A Schonesland PCA Ladies Drive is scheduled for June 12th.
We will have some driving education provided by member Dave Hill before leaving for a short, easy drive to lunch. Route and lunch destination are to be determined. We will be staying in or near the metro area with the drive planned to last around an hour.
We will leave from Cozy Cafe after the June Cars & Coffee. If the guys want to join us for lunch, there will be an opportunity for them to carpool to the lunch destination.
Ladies can drive a Porsche or whatever car they are comfortable with. This is meant to be a way for the women in the group to see what it is like to drive on a tour, have fun, and feel more comfortable in a Porsche, if not already.
For questions, please contact Jen Scharff at email@example.com
or Mary Alice (M.A.) Hill at firstname.lastname@example.org.
