I am very pleased to announce that MBA Central, an independent educational group, has recognized and ranked our online Professional Master of Business Administration (MBA) program #19 as one of the 30 fastest online MBA programs of 2019. As the global marketplace continues to evolve, the need for a well-trained and highly-qualified workforce is imminent. Corporations seek out MBA graduates whose academic achievements and professional experience can add value to them and add it quickly. Today, business professionals are not left with only the brick and mortar classroom option. Earning an MBA online allows students to set a course schedule that works with the personal and professional demands of their lives. It is our sensitivity to these needs that make the School of Professional Studies so unique and valuable, as the Professional Master of Business Administration (MBA) can be completed in as little as 10 months. Our degree, supported by experienced faculty, develops in each student a broad understanding of how the elements and processes of business organizations relate to one another and to the external environment. It will also develop proficiency and confidence in all of the functional areas of business. In addition to providing the technical skills required for an executive-level business position, this degree also emphasizes ethical considerations of doing business. Not to mention that students may build their own specialization or choose from Human Resource Management, Data Analytics or Asset Management. I encourage our undergraduate business students to seriously consider continuing your graduate studies in our Professional MBA program. If you are interested in learning more about our graduate programs, please speak with your academic advisor.

Meet the Mission is organized and sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry, under the leadership of Sr.Walter Maher, and is held every September. On Meet the Mission Day, UIW students and staff engage the greater San Antonio community with service. Since the first MtM Day, the event has grown to see over 200 members of the UIW community deploy to over 25 Community Partner sites to perform service projects on a single day. This year, the 13th annual Meet the Mission Day will take place on Friday, September 14th, 2018, and we will start and end the day at the McDermott Convocation Center in two waves beginning at 7:30 am. As part of an end of semester group project, students from the School of Professional Studies (SPS) went to the State Capitol and spent the day shadowing Texas State Representative and SPS faculty member, Dr. Philip Cortez. SPS Alumni Story Tresa Wells Class of 2009 - Studied Organization Development Instructional Design Manager, Whataburger "I completed my degree program with a mix of campus and online courses - the best of both worlds - while working a full-time job in New Braunfels. When I began working toward my degree, it had taken me 10 years to go from earning $26K to $60K. Within two years of graduating, I was making 35% more, and now, less than 10 years after graduating, my salary has almost doubled what I was making at the time of graduation. I have two managers that report to me, and they each have 3-4 direct reports. I work for a wonderful privately-owned, well-known company in San Antonio!" Everyone has a story, and we want to know yours. Current students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to share their SPS story. Please visit http://bit.ly/mySPSstory and submit yours today.
On Saturday, March 2, our new cardinals gathered together either in-person or on-line to attend the SPS New Student Orientation. Representatives from SPS and the Broadway campus gave brief presentations on all of the basics to ensure that students have a great start to the academic term. Pictured to the right is Dr. Bob Kiser, as he addresses the students during the faculty and student panel entitled, "Classroom Expectations." The next orientation is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 9 a.m. at the SEC Ballroom.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?
UIW Corpus Christi Center The University of the Incarnate Word Corpus Christi Center is in the ever-expanding heart of Corpus Christi. Among the traffic, hustle and bustle we offer an alternative for adult learners in our area. Our School of Professional studies curriculum, in it’s one night a week format, is an accelerated program many are searching for in this area. When people mention our programs in Corpus Christi, it is often followed by our location in the beautiful Kleberg Bank building. However, our name is becoming more synonymous as a community partner in our local area. Currently, UIW Corpus Christi has board positions with Education to Employment, the Nueces County Community Action Agency and the United States Census Bureau 2020. In addition, we are partners with the Coastal Compass, ToastMasters and the City of Corpus Christi to offer tech classes, as well as, business startup weekends. It is my belief that we should live by example. If we want our students to be good servants to their education, their job, and in life, then it is important that we also become good servants in our community.

There are a couple of questions I usually receive regarding registration: (1) How does a student find out if they are enrolled once submitting registration? There are several different avenues. When a student’s registration is processed, it can be viewed immediately in their Bannerweb account through Student Services, Registration, and Detailed Student Registration. The course will also show up within 12-24 hours with REG in their degree plan on Degree Works. Closer to the start of class, the student should be able to see the course in their Blackboard account. (2) What if a registration cannot be processed? Sometimes a student may be blocked from registration due to holds on accounts or the lack of prerequisite courses. Common registration holds are holds for official transcripts. Business office holds will require the student to reach out to the business office directly for clearance. If the student applied for financial aid or VA benefits, he or she may contact the respective offices, too. Before submitting a registration, students can view prerequisites required for their class on their degree plan in Degree Works by the class number (i.e. ENGL 2310 for World Literature) or look for the course number in the catalog. Reviewing prerequisites in advance, checking for holds, and following up with financial aid or VA is highly recommended so that your registration is not hindered.
