VIRTUAL LEARNING AT LMS
A decision we made 3 years ago has turned out to be one of the best we have ever made as a school. We introduced school provided iPads from Year 4 to Year 13 to assist with in school learning and rather fortunately for our pupils, virtual learning too. During the 1st lockdown, we delivered over 300,000 minutes of live online lessons and completed the curriculum for the year in a timely manner by the end of the summer term. Then, following a single term back in school, the Government's announcement on 4th January regarding the general closure of schools in England took us back to this form of teaching and we are pleased to be offering a strong, coherent and inspiring programme via LMS Online. Our expert and dedicated staff are providing continuity and stability in these most challenging of times. We are very much looking forward to reuniting as a school community as soon as it is safe to do so, but in the meantime, we are committed to strengthening and developing our online provision to make sure that we offer the best possible experience for all LMS pupils. Last year's examination outcomes were very strong, but we are ambitious to do even better this year. Whilst the needs of examination pupils at this time continue to make the headlines, we strongly believe that continuity of learning for its own sake is vitally important for every pupil. One of the distinguishing features of LMS is its focus on the individual pupil, and a central aim of our online provision is to ensure that each child still has the opportunity to develop their abilities and talents via a personalised curriculum, so that every pupil may thrive. Regular tutor sessions allow all our pupils to take ownership of their online experience and to relay any concerns, questions or suggestions about how to enhance their personal learning experience. As ever, we welcome feedback from parents and pupils, so please do get in touch with the school: we would love to hear from you.
