Hello LABA Family!I MISS YOU!!! I don’t remember going this long without seeing your smiles face to face! The virtual meetings keep rolling and our amazing LABA staff and committee chairs keep tackling one tough subject after another! This is such an extraordinary time we are going through and people’s creativity to tackle our daily needs is amazing. I love that we live in a community that is so very much aware of our surroundings and helping
those who are struggling during this time.I would like to extend a thank you
to Alex Goodman and Kraig Lassig. Alex approached the Building Careers committee with a request from the Holmen Police Department for a new K-9 they are adding to their team. That K-9 is in need of a safe shelter for in the handler’s yard. PeeWee jumped right in and said he and his crew would happily help out with building that. Several other businesses hopped on board and donated materials and your opportunity to be involved can be found in this newsletter as well! Community.
We also had the idea of introducing a “building” competition for youth in our area. Our hope was to provide parents with a “project” for the kids to work on while they’re home schooling. Maybe something that would keep them busy with their hands and minds and occupied for a bit of time. Wow! Our community did not disappoint! We had so many fabulous entries! What we all learned, we couldn’t choose “A” winner; not even two winners…so our members stepped up and donated and we were able to award FIVE $25 gift cards to our Top 5 projects! This was a great chance to get the Association’s name out there and at no cost. You, our members, saw the Facebook post, shared the Facebook post, tagged people with kids in that age group and they in turn submitted their incredible projects! What a great community effort!
That’s exactly what it will take to get each and every one of us through this pandemic! Community, effort, selflessness, caring for others…we can and we will get through this! We may have to change our normal way of doing things (how many of us have gotten more comfortable with virtual meetings than
we were 30 days ago?), think outside the box way more than we used to, turn our thoughts upside down and try to see things from every possible perspective and then…formulate a plan and tackle it! That’s who we are. That’s who this Association is. We’ve been fighters for years and now we are once again being put to the test. The Recession put us to the test and COVID-19 is doing the same. We survived the Recession and we will survive COVID-19, as a building family, as a community, as a group of people who care about others and want to help others in any way possible! This time is special. We may not get to spend time face to face with our friends, but
how many of us have been gifted with more
family time than we’ve normally had? No sports.
No events. No interruptions. I’ve heard so many
people talking about sitting down at the dinner
table with their family. Not grabbing a sandwich
on the run, but sitting down, at a table, talking,
as a family. Embrace this opportunity. Take a
moment to reflect on the good things around
you, not just the chaos created by a pandemic.
Embrace yourself as well! You are the best you
that you can be right now and it’s ok to not be
perfect right now, or ever! Be you! Do you!
Because we, your LABA family, know that
YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

Home building job sites all over the country stopped work on Thursday, April 16 to educate workers and subcontractors on proper coronavirus safety measures.
Hundreds of NAHB member companies and HBAs participated in the national COVID-19 Job Site Safety Stand Down.
The hashtags assoc- iated with the stand down were used more than 500 times on social media and generated more than 3.5 million impressions.
The safety stand
down came out of discussions between the steering members of the Construction Industry Safety Coalition. The Associated General Contractors of America held their stand down on April 9, NAHB on April 16, and Associated Builders and Contractors held theirs on April 23.
With materials created by the coalition,
home builders, subcontractors, building suppliers, HBAs, and other associated

Included in each edition of The Floorplan, a hammer will be hidden for you to find! At each General Membership Meeting the LABA office chooses a Mystery Guest at random to go around and shake other member's hands and introduce themselves or chat.
Usually the 7th person's hand they shake becomes the Mystery Guest's winner and receives $25 cash! The Mystery Guest's Winner will have to identify if they know where the hammer in the Floorplan was for the current edition. If they don't know where the hammer was they receive $15 (the other $10 will get added to the next month's $25- if they know where the hammer was they receive the whole pot $25+! Have fun! HUD's Carson Joins NAHB Webinar
In an exclusive webinar for NAHB members, HUD Secretary Ben Carson and FHA Commissioner Brian Montgomery recently outlined specific measures the agency has implemented to battle the COVID-19 pandemic and lauded the efforts of NAHB during this outbreak. The two housing policy experts also answered detailed questions from NAHB members.
A replay of the webinar is available to NAHB members in the Webinars and Town Halls section of nahb.org/coronavirus.
Congress Approves $484 Billion Stimulus
Congress has approved a $484 billion relief measure to combat the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. The legislation provides $380 billion in funding for two key small-business loan programs that ran out of money under the CARES Act.
Businesses applying for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan may request an advance of up to $10,000 to be delivered within three days of the request.
Under the Paycheck Protection Program, small businesses can take out loans equal to 2.5 times their average monthly payroll, up to $10 million.
A recent NAHB survey of professional remodelers shows the negative effect the coronavirus pandemic is having on the decision to remodel. More than 90% of remodelers in the survey reported a slowdown in both the rate at which inquiries are coming in, and in the general willingness of home owners to remodel at this time.
Roughly 96% of remodelers said the virus was hurting the rate at which inquiries are coming in, and a full 70% characterized the negative impact on inquiries as major rather than minor.
The survey listed eight impacts of the coronavirus on the remodeling market. More than 80% of respondents said the virus was having a noticeable effect on:
Homeowner concerns about inter-
acting with remodeling crews (86%);
Supply of N95 face masks (84%);
Cancellations or delays of existing
The pandemic is having significant adverse effects on the remodeling market, but the strongest ones are the negative impacts on the behavior of potential customers.

Construction Site Coronavirus Safety Tips
The Construction Industry Safety Coalition, of which NAHB is a leading member, has published guidance for construction employers, employees and contractors on coronavirus exposure
prevention and preparedness.
The guidance describes how to prevent exposure to coronavirus, protective measures to take on the job site, personal protective equipment, work practice controls, cleaning and disinfecting procedures, and what to do if a worker becomes sick. The documents are specifically tailored to construction job sites.
