Pea Ridge First Baptist Church
Sunday, March 11 we are ordaining Mike Estes to serve as a Deacon. Mike is married to Sandy. They’ve been members at FBC for many years and have both served in many capacities in our church family. They continue to lead by example, reminding all of us that God has invited us into His Kingdom work as participants, not spectators. Their participation in the life and work of FBC continues to make a difference and impact lives. We hope you will plan to attend this service, as we commission Mike to begin to serve alongside our current Deacons: Matt Easterling, Wade Spencer, David Ragland, John Dye and Rick Johnson.
At FBC we understand the Bible as defining the role of Deacon as one who serves. Specifically, it’s a role that was birthed from a need that arose in the early church in Acts 6. A need that involved meeting basic food needs of a group of widows. This ministry would allow the Apostles to keep their focus on the word of God and prayer. A ministry focused on serving, assisting the pastors and intentionally protecting the unity of the church.
Mike was prayerfully selected based on the Biblical qualification found in Acts 6:3 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13. We believe he is an excellent addition to this team and will strengthen the work of these servants as they serve our church family.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. "Mark 10:45 (CSBBible)
4Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, 6who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. 7Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, 8he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death — even to death on a cross. Philippians 2:4-8 (CSBBible)
To serve… To give His life… emptied Himself… humbled Himself… to the point of death…on a cross…
So much of what we read of Jesus involves serving. He came to serve and give. And yet, for those of us who seek to follow Him, often it seems serving is so counter to our default. We lean towards toward being served rather than serving. We prefer to be recognized as important, versus serving quietly without recognition. We are not typically fond of serving in a manner that involves no credit or accolades. No Facebook post with a picture of our service. No recognition or promotion, just quiet, selfless, other focused service. For Jesus, greatness is found in service. The humble servants, willing to serve as those who wash feet, are those that He counts as great. Those willing to look after the interests of others and serve.
Pray for our Deacons as they seek to serve needs in our church family. Pray for Mike as he is ordained and begins serving with them. Pray for all of us, that we would follow Jesus and become servants.
adopt the same attitude as jesus
We are very pleased to announce that we will gather on March 11th at 6:00pm to witness the ordination of Mike Estes as a Deacon in our Church.

Elevate Weekend 2018 was a huge hit! Since it has been a few years since the student ministry has hosted a Disciple-Now Weekend, I could tell the students were a little hesitant and skeptical for what the weekend would hold. Each and every student had a blast and is planning on attending next year as well as bringing friends! Daniel, our speaker, brought the Word with conviction and passion. Hunter, our worship leader, led us in beautiful songs and hearts of worship. Our leaders were absolutely phenomenal! The food was fantastic. Lastly, the games were crazy, fun, and topped off a weekend filled with faith!
