Congratulations to our new Board members elected at our Annual Meeting in Quebec City: Molly Cherry, Michael Crim, Spencer Silverglate, and Colin Loveday (Vice President of International). They join the IADC Board of Directors at an exciting time in our history. We are quickly approaching our centennial anniversary and we are experiencing positive growth in our membership around the world. This is due in no small part to the value that is provided to our members by the IADC. We now have lawyers located in 51 countries and territories. We are dedicated to providing value to all of our members regardless of their geographical location by implementing programs that extend our time tested core values of developing and expanding personal, professional, and business relationships. This fall alone we will have Regional Meetings in London, Sydney, Birmingham, Alabama, Hong Kong, and Pittsburgh. Also, as you will read in this issue of the Docket, Bill Perry will lead an outstanding International Corporate Counsel College program in Amsterdam in November. These are just a few of the upcoming IADC events that provide value to our members. At our Board meeting this month, we continued to focus on long term planning for our international growth, implementing a plan for strategic alliances with organizations that we have identified as providing enhanced value for our members, and analyzing our diversity efforts throughout the entire IADC organization to ensure that we continue to grow as a diverse and inclusive association. In addition to experiencing strong membership growth, we are also enjoying strong support for our IADC events. At the Annual Meeting, we set a record for First Timers attendance. Our Trial Academy held at Stanford University this summer, led by Lyn Pruitt and the 2018 Trial Academy Director, Chris Kenney, had an attendee waiting list of 10 lawyers. I recently attended the ABOTA Roundtable in Washington, DC, along with our President-Elect, Craig Thompson. There were 11 bar associations represented at the conference and each leader gave a report regarding their association. As I listened to these reports and the issues that are facing the various bar associations, I am pleased to report that the IADC is out front on all of these common issues regarding diversity, providing value to membership and membership growth. With the unique hardworking volunteer spirit of our talented members, I am confident that when we celebrate our centennial anniversary in 2020 we will continue to be the pre-eminent association of defense trial lawyers, global advocates, corporate counsel, and insurance executives. The IADC sets itself apart by the numerous opportunities that it offers its members to become involved in leadership roles in the IADC. We have more than 25 Substantive Law Committees with at least seven chair and vice chair positions for each Committee. You can help keep the IADC strong by becoming involved with one or more of the Committees. Just visit the IADC website and explore the Committee Chair Corner for instructions on how to register for a Committee and participate in the monthly Committee calls. You will find that these Committees are working on Webinars, newsletters, articles for the peer-reviewed Defense Counsel Journal, CLE programming for the Midyear and Annual Meetings, and special projects. All of these efforts bring value to our members, strengthen our knowledge and skills as lawyers, and reinforce our reputations as leading lawyers in our practice areas.

New Website Feature! Committee Chair Corner
In August, the IADC debuted a new feature on the homepage of our website - the Committee Chair Corner. Every two weeks, a new column will be posted from a different Committee Chair. The column will address topics that are important to the Committee and will also discuss what the Committee is doing within the Association. This will give great insight into what each of the 25+ Committees has to offer the membership. Click any of the photos below to read the Chair's Committee Chair Corner article. If you would like to join any of the IADC Substantive Law Committees, please email Maria Juarez, Administrative Support Coordinator, at mjuarez@iadclaw.org.

Calling all artists and aspiring artists for next IADC Foundation silent auction! The Foundation of the IADC will have its next Silent Auction at the Midyear Meeting on February 10-15, 2018 at La Quinta Resort in La Quinta, California USA. We are mixing it up for this next auction and working to showcase amazing creations by our IADC members and IADC family members. The IADC Art Auction will include items created by IADC members and family. Artists can be professionals or amateurs. Any skill level welcome. The only requirements are that it is original work and that it is done by an IADC member or family member (spouse, significant other, child, parent, grandparent, etc.). Artwork can be painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, doodle on a napkin – any artistic medium. We will have three groupings for the artwork. You can donate art that fits in any of these categories: General. This is artwork created by IADC members and family on any subject. Our IADC. This is artwork that represents what the IADC means to the person. Perhaps it represents a favorite IADC memory, event or person or a feeling the person gets when thinking of the IADC. Love of the Profession. The Foundation of the IADC and IADC members promote strength and support of the rule of law. Artwork could include courtroom scenes or other representations of the rule of law and the legal profession. In addition, we will be soliciting a small number of high value/high interest donations for the auction, such as trips and golf packages. If you would like to donate, please contact Mary Beth Kurzak, Executive Director, at mkurzak@iadclaw.org. For now, you just need to let Mary Beth know that you plan to donate. We will need a photo of the donation, description, and estimated value by January 5, 2018. We will post an online catalogue in advance of the meeting, and the auction will take place during the Midyear Meeting. Mary Beth will coordinate with you to ship the donation prior to the Midyear Meeting. Your donations benefit The Foundation of the IADC and its projects including the Survey of International Litigation Procedures, iCivics, the National High School Mock Trial Championship, National Foundation for Judicial Excellence, IADC Webinars, and the Foundation Forum. The Foundation is working on expanding its support into additional international projects this year as well.
