Letter from the ceo (pg. 2)
Dear valued member-
Almost a year ago, in the fall of 2019, the credit union's Board of Directors, executive team, and management took part in a two-day strategic planning session to chart our course for 2020 and beyond. It would be an understatement to say that 2020 has not been the year that we had planned for. Restrictions from the pandemic have hit the theatre and entertainment industries hard. As a credit union, we have had to shift our plans, retool our operations, and double-down on what's most important: taking care of our members.
With so much of our operations now happening remotely, providing good technology for our members is more important than ever. We have just recently rolled out an all new online banking site called eBranch 2020. The new site has a refreshed look, new functionalities, and greater security. If you haven't tried eBranch 2020 yet, please do!
Actors Federal Credit Union exists “to financially empower members of the creative community." By being a member and actively utilizing our products and services, you are contributing to the cooperative and helping us drive our purpose forward. Thank you for your continued support!

Our lending process can be completed 100% online. However, please take note of the following guidelines for obtaining a loan during these unprecedented times:
You must be currently employed to obtain a loan
We cannot accept Unemployment Insurance (UI) or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) as a source of income
All loan applications must be submitted online

during the pandemic
Guidelines for obtaining a loan
1. Do you have enough saved for a down payment? We require at least 10% of the home's appraised value as a down payment, and you may need more.
2. Are you currently employed? We require our borrowers to have a current source of income. We also like to see a low ratio of debt-to-income.
3. Are you ready to settle down? Buying a home may not be the best move financially, if you are not able to commit to homeownership.
Are you ready to buy a home?

Update to Membership Agreement
Like all credit unions, ActorsFCU is a cooperative. Our members are all equal owners. Each member has one "share" of ownership. At ActorsFCU, the par value of a share is $5.
Please be advised, we have recently updated the terms of our Membership Agreement to require a minimum balance of $5 in every member's share account in accordance with the par value of a share as defined by our credit union's bylaws. This change will take effect on 11/01/2020.
You can read our Membership Agreement anytime on our website.

The holiday season is approaching. Along with all of the celebrations, there can be some significant expenses. It's not too late to create a plan of action, and avoid busting your budget!
*Holiday Loans feature a non-variable annual percentage rate. All loans are subject to, and all rates are determined by creditworthiness and underwriting guidelines. Minimum loan is $500. Maximum loan amount is $2,500. Loan term is 12-months. Payment example- a $1,000 loan over a 12-month term at 7.90% would result in a monthly payment of $86.94 per thousand dollars financed. Payment example does not reflect optional deferred payments. Not all members will qualify for a loan or the stated payment arrangements. Programs, rates, terms, and conditions are subject to change without notice. Ask for complete details.
Plan ahead for
3. Decide how to pay. Now that you have an idea what your holiday expenses are going to be, how are you going to pay for them? Do you have enough money in savings already? If not, are you earning enough money that you're able to start setting some aside now? Or, will you ultimately have to resort to borrowing money (e.g., use a credit card)?
4. Holiday Loans* from ActorsFCU. If you need to, you may be able to borrow up to $2,500* unsecured at a special low interest rate. Plus, with our deferred payment option, you won't be required to make any payments for sixty-days.
2. Set a budget. Knowing you plans allows you to estimate your expenses. If the expenses seem unreasonable, you may want to reconsider your plans.
Apply for Holiday Loan
1. Know your plans. Knowing what your plans are for the holiday season is an important first step to forecasting your expenses. For example- Are you traveling? Are you exchanging gifts? If so, with whom? The further in advance you can solidify your plans, the longer you'll have to prepare for them.
ActorsFCU in the Community
The class we sponsor is "Budgeting Nuts & Bolts," a free, single-session workshop focused on identifying financial goals and getting specific about the flow of money in our lives. This class was designed specifically for professionals in the entertainment industry who don't always earn and spend money the same way every month.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, classes are being offered online via Zoom. On the bright side, this change allows for more people to attend the classes.
Please visit our website for full details and to RSVP.
In an effort to provide financial education resources to our members, the credit union has been sponsoring classes at The Actors Fund throughout the year. Our last two sponsored classes are fast-approaching: October 1st at 4:00 PM EDT and November 3rd at 12:00 PM EST.
A debit card transaction is considered “authorized” by the cardholder if the card or card number is willingly provided either to a merchant or to another person. For example, you provide your gym with your debit card number to pay your membership fee on a monthly basis. Another example, you give your spouse your debit card to buy a new television while you are at work.
A debit card transaction is considered “unauthorized” if the debit card or card number is used by a merchant or person other than the cardholder, who did not have actual, implied or apparent authority for said use. For example, an online merchant with whom you have never dealt charges your card for purchases you did not request.
Your Debit Card Responsibilities
Authorized vs. Unauthorized Charges
Sometimes issues arise with authorized charges. For example, a merchant may charge you the wrong amount, or you may not receive your promised goods or services. Issues with authorized transactions will be handled as merchant disputes and must be reported to the credit union within 75 days of the transaction date.
On the other hand, unauthorized transactions will be handled as fraud disputes and must be reported to the credit union within 75 days of the transaction date.
In either case, you must report the transaction(s) in a timely manner and following the credit union's procedures to recover your funds.
