Meet with Career Services for interview skills and resume preparation. Contact the Music Department for information about graduate programs in your area of interest. Attend an alumni networking event. Attend professional association events.
Familiarize yourself with the Suggested Course Sequence and other items on the Student Resources page on the Music Department website. Focus on your core music courses, such as Private Lessons and Studio, Ensembles, Theory, Sight Singing and Ear Training, Functional Piano, and Methods classes. Meet with your advisor to make sure you are on track to begin pre-professional courses.
Enhance your music education experience by attending master classes, student and staff recitals, ensemble performances, and musical theater productions. Investigate one of the many Music Department honor societies and explore requirements for joining. Participate in various fundraising and outreach activities sponsored by music honor societies, even prior to joining.

Attend the concerts and recitals of other music and musical theater students. Continue to attend on-campus concerts and events as you are able, and engage with current students in your major as they work towards their senior year.
Work toward completing your Music Core and Academic Core classes and moving into classes specific to y our major. Complete your private lessons; schedule and present your Senior Recital. Meet with your advisor to declare your major.
Take on a leadership role in one of the music honor societies. Enroll in an advanced theory class, or take elective lessons once required lessons are completed. Audition for a community-based scholarship.

In addition, music education majors are required to complete student teaching, Music Business, Audio Production; Music Industries Studies majors must complete internships; and all degrees except music industries must pass a Theory Proficiency Exam and participate in a Senior Recital.
