The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (the "Act") provides for the designation of certain population census tracts as qualified opportunity zones and creates tax incentives for those having capital gains they would like to roll over into another investment on a tax-deferred basis to encourage investment in each qualified opportunity zone. The "Act" allows a taxpayer 180 days in which to reinvest capital gains in a "Qualified Opportunity Fund", which is a corporation or partnership organization for the purpose of investing in qualified opportunity zone property.
