Prelude
Partita on "This Joyful Eastertide" — Paul Bouman
Introit
How good and pleasant is the sight when kindred make it their delight to dwell is blest accord; such love is like anointing oil that consecrates for holy toil the servants of the Lord. (Words adapted from Psalm 133; Tune: Americana, Charles H. Gabriel)
*Call to Worship
All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. This is the good news which we proclaim to you. Jesus Christ is raised from the dead! Walk in the light of his love. Live in the light of his teachings and healing mercies. Come, let us worship the One Who overcame death. Let us celebrate the triumph of our Lord!

Second Sunday of Easter
11 am
To hear the word
Prayer of Confession
Patient Lord, you wait for us to understand. You wait for us to remove the blinders of prejudice, fear, unbelief, confusion. You give us the greatest miracle of all time, the resurrection of your Son Jesus. We sang and celebrated on Easter, but a week has passed and we have slid back into our old habits. Shake us up and cause us to look with new eyes on our Savior, who came that we might have abundant life. Reach out to us so that we may reach out with healing love to others, in Jesus’ name.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
Let the stones of ignorance, stubbornness and fear be rolled away from your hearts. Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and know that his love is poured out for you, for your healing. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are restored and forgiven. Amen.
*Gloria Hymnal #102, v. 3 alt.
All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
Scripture John 20:19-31
When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” (cont'd on next page)

Offertory Sanctuary Choir
“Come Away to the Skies” — tune from Southern Harmony, arr. John Leavitt; words by Charles Wesley Come away to the skies, my beloved, arise and rejoice in the day you were born. On this festival day, come exulting away, and with singing to Zion return. We with thanks do approve the design of that love which has joined us to Jesus' name; so united in heart, let us nevermore part, till we meet at the feast of the Lamb. (cont'd on next page)
Scripture (cont'd)
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name. The Word of God for the People of God. Thanks be to God.
Children's Time
Children of all ages are invited to join us in this special moment.
Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Communion Hymn
#420 "Breathe on Me, Breath of God"
The Great Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is right and a good and joyful thing always and everywhere to give thanks to you, almighty God... ... And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
Eucharistic Acclamations — based on the American folk hymn Land of Rest
Offertory (cont'd)
Hallelujah we sing, to our Father and King, and his rapturous praises repeat: to the Lamb that was slain, hallelujah again, sing, all heaven, and fall at his feet. Amen!
Sermon
eclipse revelations
To celebrate holy communion
...In remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here... ...Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and forever.
The Lord's Supper
Please follow the ushers' direction and leave your pew via the side aisles. Step forward to receive the bread. Once you have received the bread, move toward the center aisle. There you will have the option of receiving the juice: — by intinction (dipping the bread in the cup), or — by taking a small cup from the tray, drinking the juice, and placing the empty cup in the basket provided. Return to your pew via the center aisle.
