“Adagio in G Minor” — Tomaso Albinoni
Introit
We seek thy presence, Lord; may ours this blessing be: give us a pure and lowly heart, a temple fit for thee. Amen. (Words: John Keble, alt; Music: J.S. Bach)
*Call to Worship Based on Psalm 51
All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. Creator of the universe, Holy Triune God, From everlasting to everlasting, you are Lord. You are merciful and full of loving-kindness and great compassion; We will rejoice, for your grace has overflowed for us. You have washed us thoroughly from our wickedness and cleansed us from our sin; We will rejoice, for your grace has overflowed for us. Who is like God, the One who takes away the iniquity of his people, the One who gives them clean hearts and right spirits? We will rejoice, for your grace has overflowed for us. This is God, the Holy One. We come before God with thanksgiving and offer our sacrifice of praise.

Members of the family of God, I commend to you these persons. Do all in your power to increase their faith, confirm their hope and perfect them in love. We give thanks for the faith God has worked within you. We pledge to you our Christian love and hospitality as those who also live by hope. Together with you and all Christians this day, we seek the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
11 am
Prayer of Confession
Love that knows no boundaries: we crowd our lives with so much activity that it is hard to find time for you. We become so focused on ourselves, that we overlook those around us who are searching for hope. We fill our spiritual emptiness with junk, rather than feasting on your Word. Abundant Mercy, forgive us. Open our eyes, that we may see your new covenant written in plain sight on our hearts. Open our hearts, that we may join you in serving the broken of the world.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
Beloved friends, the love of God is poured out abundantly and graciously in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Let us rejoice in the salvation that is freely given to us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen.
*Gloria Hymnal #296, v. 5
Unto God be praise and glory: to the Father and the Son, to th' eternal Spirit honor now and evermore be done; praise and glory in the highest, while unending ages run.

To hear the word
Scripture John 12:20-33
Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew, then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain, but if it dies it bears much fruit. Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor. “Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say: ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine. Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die. The Word of God for the People of God. Thanks be to God.
Anthem Sanctuary Choir
"A Song of the Covenant" — Malcolm Archer; words based on Jeremiah 31:31-34 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and will write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. They will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive them their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Amen.

Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

“O Love That Will Not Let Me Go” — John Ness Beck; words by George Matheson O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee. I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow may richer, fuller be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee. I trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not vain, that morn shall tearless be.
*Prayer of Dedication
God of the ages, we share our tithes and offerings this day with, acknowledging that our mindset of scarcity robs us of joy. Remind us that Jesus has called us to be ready to let go of this life, so that we might claim the abundance of life eternal. Amen.

Lectio Divina is a method of reading scripture that invites us to deepen into the words we hear and use our imagination to take us to the time of the scripture. A scripture is read, and then two minutes of silence is observed, the scripture is read again, and silence is observed, and then a time of sharing takes place. Sharing includes anything one feels moved to share about how the scripture and ensuing silence has touched them in this moment. During Holy Week, we will be offering Lectio Divina via Zoom Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 9 am. Please join us for all five days or just one day. All are welcome. Contact Kathy Thiel with any questions by calling (585) 271-1050 x106

Director of Property Care Stepping Down
Robin Manley, our Community Outreach Center Social Worker, will be leaving her position at Asbury First in order to begin a new position. Robin will continue to serve our Rochester community as she transitions to offering counseling and therapy services in her new role. We congratulate and are excited for Robin! Her departure is also, of course, a huge loss for Asbury First. Robin has made immeasurable contributions to the mission and work of the Community Outreach Center. On Robin’s last day, March 15, we celebrated her work during our regularly scheduled breakfast in the COC. Please join us in thanking her for her deep investment in our church, ministries and community. Robin, we wish you well!
Community Outreach Center Social Worker Stepping Down
It is with very mixed emotions that we announce that Lori Young, our Director of Property Care, is stepping down from her full-time position to concentrate on her career in landscape architecture. Lori has been presented with an opportunity to build a full-time landscaping business, Sacred Breadth, where she will specialize in creating beautiful gardens and sacred spaces for healing, contemplation and prayer, which is a return to her academic and experiential background and passion. We are sad to see her go, but excited to see the wonderful work this new venture will stimulate. Lori will continue with us on a part-time basis as Property Administrator so she can oversee and supervise the work and training of staff, fully implement automated applications, and serve as liaison to Monday Morning crew, Property Stewardship Committee, Garden Team, and Community Garden Team, among others. Recruitment efforts to fill the full-time position of Property Care Director is in process.
Open to All We believe we are all equal in God’s eyes and are all one in Christ. We extend hospitality and encourage full participation for all regardless of any perceived defining characteristic. Worship We believe we are at our best when we connect to God together through preaching, prayer, and song. We strive for excellence in all we do, especially in our worship experience. Community We believe we are better together; fellowship and care are keys to love and life. Outreach We believe everyone deserves hope and fullness of life. We endeavor to practice mercy and work for justice in our local and extended community. Discipleship We believe we—adults, youth, and children alike—are called to grow in our faith both as a community and as individuals through education, regular worship, meaningful fellowship, a commitment to service, and celebrating rites of passage together. Generosity We believe what we have is a gift from God. We share our gifts with an open heart to help meet needs at Asbury First, the Rochester community, and throughout the world. Stewardship We believe we must care for the human, physical, and financial resources with which we have been entrusted.
Our values represent a description of our guiding principles. These statements are standards of behavior, which are inherent in all we do.
