What a week. There is nothing quite like the week before Christmas in a Catholic elementary school. Let me just take this time to wish you all a relaxing break and a very merry Christmas. The board, the faculty and I would like to thank each of you for choosing St. Ephrem Catholic Academy. We understand that a Catholic education is a sacrifice and that you make that choice for your child's future. We work tirelessly to ensure that your children are prepared for their future, cared for in the present and have wonderful memories to take with them for a lifetime. It is our distinct honor to come to work each day knowing that we make a difference in children lives and we take that honor and obligation seriously. So thank you for giving us that opportunity. Have a very Merry Christmas and a joyous new year.

The day before Christmas break is filled with events, joy and song. Before the offical ceremonies began the junior high joined together for a St. Ephrem tradition. Mr. D broke out the gutair and led the students in song. Here we have a clip of one of their songs. After this performance the students came down stairs to enjoy the 8th grades reenactment of the WWI Christmas Truce, the school bands winter performance and the first terms awards ceremony. What a great way to kick off the Christmas break.

honor roll call
In the spirit of Christmas, 4th and 5th grade collected dog supplies to benefit BARC, a local nonprofit, shelter. We are so excited that, with our help, Santa will be delivering joy to our four legged friends this Christmas. We are so appreciative of generous support we received from so many families. It is important in this season of giving to remember to reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves. The generous spirts of the holiday season and St. Ephrem families has made a real difference. Thank you
It takes hard work and long term planning to make the honor roll. We are pleased that so many students earned a spot on one of the honor rolls this term. It is a wonderful thing to be dedicated to your studies and we acknowledge all of their hard work. The ceremony for the students is the way we can allow our school to show that their work is appreciated. We understand that not all students made honor roll this term, but we are of the firm belief that all of our students are capable of achieving that goal. We hope that seeing their fellow students receive their honors inspires them to do their best in the second term. We look forward to the next award ceremony when even more students' names are placed among the honor rolls.

This week Kindergarten is spreading Christmas Cheer and building their math skills. They are playing Bulbs and Bells an addition game where the children roll dice and write an addition sentence using the numbers they rolled. They then added both numbers together to complete the addition sentence. What a fun way to learn addition!
