EP1 Module Description The EP1 gave Child Check-Mate System, Inc. the reputation for being the best driver friendly System available in our industry. For most installations, our unique patented design eliminates the need to run any wires the length of the bus, resulting in fast and easy installation. This System gives the driver the time needed to walk to the back of the bus to perform the child check. Product Photo Current Draw Power Consumption The EP1 is Microprocessor based and consumes less than 20 mA, which is typical, 40 mA is peak, depending on the number of Outputs that were activated. The power supply for the Microprocessor is outfitted with a current limited voltage regulator IC. Limits on Inputs All Inputs to the System, Ignition, Rear Door Sensor, and Master have 57,000 Ohm resistors in series with the Input wires. Limits on Control Outputs Normal Conditions All control Outputs are current limited. Outputs from the EP1 have a direct, non-current limited connection to the battery. The Horn and Dome Light circuits utilize a 3.3 Ohm resistor in series with the Drive Transistor. Under normal conditions the maximum current is limited to 300 mA. Abnormal Conditions Under potential fault conditions, for example, due to an external short, the Output will be shut 'OFF' by the Microprocessor. Under abnormal situations for example, a component failure may cause excessive current to flow through the 3.3 Ohm resistors, or the PCB track carrying this current will fail by going 'open', eliminating the excessive current draw.
