Dear INDUS Members
As I had indicated in the last month’s issue of the INDUS magazine, we have now grown big enough for us to take on an independent role and set up a secretariat which will function as our operations back-end. This is also needed to enable us to become truly an independent user group, functioning in all ways independent of SAP.
This secretariat will also enable us to scale up our operations and to ensure that we are able to build a true community. In this quest, after thorough analysis of all the options that we had, We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Paul Writer Strategic Services as the Secretariat for INDUS. They will be handling member relations, conference management, communications, accounting among other responsibilities.
Paul Writer was founded in 2010 by Jessie Paul, a former CMO of Wipro Technologies and Global Brand Manager of Infosys. Paul Writer works with clients primarily in the B2B space helping them to build a community-based outreach program with their stakeholders. Clients include Adobe, Brillio, Dell, Happiest Minds, LinkedIn and SAP. This is an important and a big step for us, as this increases our overall annual costing to run the user group and necessities that we move from a free membership model to a paid membership model. We are still deliberating the quantum of fee and how we will operationalise the fee. One thing that all of us on the INDUS board agree upon is that it is time for us all to invest a bit in the health of the user group so that we collectively benefit a lot from being a part of the group.
We will get back to you all shortly with more information about the fee structure.
Meanwhile, we met Adaire Fox Martin, President – SAP APJ in March and had a very productive meeting, sharing with her our growth story and seeking her commitment to continue to support the user group in all manner possible.
We are about to start work on creating a position paper on S/4 HANA. We have 5 board members committed to spend time and effort (both theirs and their teams) to understand the strategy around S/4 HANA and create a white paper based on our understanding. We would like to open the participation on the committee to another 3 CIO’s and their teams. Complimenting existing performance and compensation processes, JobPts now automates motivation and reward programs at Semos, helping to drive job satisfaction and reduce employee turnover.
NFL.com: Building new apps in the cloud
Of course, you can also use SAP HANA Cloud Platform to build and deploy completely new cloud apps – which is exactly what the National Football League in the United States did. To help grow its online fantasy football business, the NFL built and deployed a high-powered analytics app that uses SAP HANA Cloud Platform and SAP Lumira, cloud edition to deliver detailed player comparisons and user-specific recommendations in real time. This has helped the NFL grow its fantasy football platform 45% since 2010.
