Installation: Motion Sensor
Last Modified: {{date:MMMM d, yyyy}}
Installing the Motion Sensor Overview The Motion Sensor is required for the Child Check-Mate System® to deliver the enhanced Theft-Mate and Double-Check functions. Although the Child Check-Mate System® provides Motion Sensors for a variety of climates and operational conditions, all Child Check-Mate System® Motion Sensors are installed in the same way. Important: For the Motion Sensor to be most effective it should be installed at the front of the bus, as close to the center as possible. The Motion Sensor should not be shielded by other devices (i.e. mirrors, first-aid kits). This is extremely important as it allows the Motion Sensor to effectively detect movement, especially in the aisle. Tech Tip: To speed things up, part of the Motion Sensor Harness can be fished at the same time as the Speaker wire. Installation Locate a suitable surface on which to mount the Motion Sensor. Drill a 3⁄4 inch hole through in order to feed the Motion Sensor Wire Harness. Remove the panel on the driver’s side of the vehicle, the driver’s seat. Tech Tip: This is the same panel removed for installation of the external Speaker. Fish the Motion Sensor Harness through the drilled hole and pass it through to the removed panel. Turn the arrow at the bottom of the Motion Sensor so that it faces the 'open lock' symbol. Hold the bottom of the Motion Sensor and firmly slide the top half downwards to separate the two halves' (pushing towards the 'open lock' symbol). Attach the 4-Pin connector from the Motion Sensor to the 4-Pin connector on the Motion Sensor Harness. Insert the Plastic grommet into the hole drilled in Step 2 and feed the wire through until the Motion Sensor is flat against the paneling. Mount the Motion Sensor to the panel by screwing through the indentation in the plastic, to the left of the level, using the self- tapping screws provided. Ensure that the Motion Sensor is level (using the level in the Motion Sensor housing as a guide). Secure Motion Sensor by using the second screw (provided). It should be screwed through the plastic indentation, just above the locking mechanism, at the bottom of the Motion Sensor casing. Re-Attach the faceplate of the Motion Sensor to the body by aligning the four corners and pushing upwards on the faceplate. The faceplate will automatically lock itself once it is latched. Run the Motion Sensor Harness down pillar “B” (located just to the left of the driver's seat) to the electrical box where the Child Check-Mate Unit will be mounted.
