Spring has sprung and there are so many exciting things happening in this final quarter. Thank you to everyone who attended our Leadership Breakfast last month! It was great to see so many families learning about the 7 Habits through activities and literature. Some photos from this fun event are located throughout the newsletter.
Beginning April 23rd, our students will take the MAP test in the areas of Communication Arts and Mathematics. Fifth grade will also test in science. The assessments are performance based, made-up of multiple choice, performance tasks and writing tasks. Students have had the opportunity to practice the past few weeks. Please take a few minutes to review the testing schedule located in the newsletter to help ensure good attendance during the testing dates.
Our annual Leadership Day will be held April 12. Students will be showcasing their leadership and sharing the 7 Habits with guests that are an inspiration to them. As a reminder, all guests must have a completed background check. Registration forms and background checks are due by April 6.
Please encourage your child to give their very best effort each and every day, because that is what leaders at FPE do. Thank you for all of your continued support.

2018-2019 Early Release Days
The 2018-2019 school year calendar is on our website. Just click here. We are grateful for the home-school partnership in teaching children that every minute counts at school and want to make a special note: Early Release Days move to Wednesdays in 2018-2019. We know many of you use this time to schedule appointments, etc., so your child can be at school when class is in session. The change takes effect in August. We hope that by reminding you of this change over the next few months, you and your family are ready for the next school year. Thank you for support of strong school attendance. #EveryMinuteCounts
Fine Arts Night Thank You!
Thank you for a wonderful Fine Arts evening. The performances were wonderful and the art work inspiring. Your purchases at the book fair help support our library .
In an effort to ensure student safety, each guest should buzz into the office upon arrival and be admitted by a member of the office staff. Please avoid holding the door open for other guests when entering and exiting the building.

Fort Zumwalt School District
Fort Zumwalt APP!
Fort Zumwalt's Proposition 3 is a no-tax-increase $35 million bond issue on the April 3 ballot. The district's 31 facilities, 27 of which are schools, were most recently assessed at more than $550 million. Regular maintenance and upgrades ensure safe, welcoming learning environments for our students and staff and protect taxpayer investment.
Prop 3 would provide funds for maintenance of roofs, parking lots and heating and cooling systems. It would provide funds for continued upgrades to computer network infrastructure and building interiors. Additions are needed at Flint Hill Elementary to eliminate mobile classrooms and at North High School to accommodate a growing student population. A new Professional Development Center, capable of providing our teachers adequate learning space and tools, is also needed to keep student achievement moving forward.
Prop 3 is a no-tax-increase issue. The district collects a debt service levy for paying off bonds (loans) used to fund capital improvements such as maintenance, construction or land purchases (currently 69 cents per $100 of assessed valuation). Strong financial stewardship allows Fort Zumwalt to borrow within the limit of the revenue generated by that 69 cents, so no increase is required to repay the $35 million the district would borrow through Prop 3.
