Conference Objective Welcome to the GLB Tech Camp 2018. The goal of the GLB Tech Camp 2018 is to create an opportunity for sharing tech integration strategies and ideas that participants can take back and begin using immediately. This conference brings together the best local, state and national presenters in one location for a one-day mini-conference that is totally tech! Our region is full of tremendously talented educators. Many of these educators have given of their time and talents to present sessions for their colleagues at our conference. On behalf of the GLB Instructional Team, we want to thank you for your participation. Have a great conference!

Conference Registration Click on the link below to get to the SCHED.org registration page which is the official conference App. Registration will be open from February 1 - March 30, 2018. Sign up for a free SCHED.org account if you do not already have one to create a custom schedule, network with other attendees, and take your event schedule on the go. Click “SIGN UP” to create an account using Facebook or your email. Once you have created your account or accessed your account, you will have the opportunity to register for conference sessions. Please be sure when registering to include all pertinent information in your SCHED account including name, district, building, email, etc. If you have problems registering for the conference, please contact the BAISD Instructional Services Staff who will be coordinating registration on behalf of our GLB Team via the email links below or by phone at (989) 667-3280. Cost The cost of the GLB Tech Camp 2018 will be $30 for registrants from the Great Lakes Bay consortium of districts. Registrants from outside the Great Lakes Bay are welcome to attend at a cost of $40. Participants may pay via purchase order, invoice, or by personal check on the day of the event. Selecting Sessions Please be sure to take a look at the conference booklet before registering for sessions. Here are a few key points to keep in mind before registering: Opening Keynote: We are thrilled to have Kevin Honeycutt to provide the opening keynote for all participants at GLB Tech Camp 2018. Kevin will kick off the conference with a positive message that we all need at the mid-way point of our year. Closing Keynote: After a great day of sessions, we will have a closing keynote from Michigan's own Brad Waid. Don't let the fact that he is not traveling very far to join us fool you, Brad is an awesome presenter who is an internationally known speaker. Local/State/National Presenters: GLB Tech Camp 2018 features presenters from around the region, around the state, and around the country. You will find great ideas all in one place and all in one day at GLB Tech Camp 2018! Take a look at the many sessions offered in Breakouts A & B. Keep in mind that our keynote presenters will both be presenting during the breakouts.

Keynote Speaker - Kevin Honeycutt
Kevin Honeycutt is a technology integrationist and a staff developer from Central Kansas. He spent 13 years teaching K-12 art and now travels the country and the world sharing ideas with educators. His website kevinhoneycutt.org is a valued treasure house of resources for educators. Kevin grew up in poverty and attended school in many cities across the United States. As he witnessed education around the country he collected powerful experiences that still influence his conversations and his work with educators. He spent 13 years teaching art K-12 in public school and for 17 years spent summers leading creative adventure camps for kids of all ages. In 1991 he received the Making IT Happen Award which is an internationally recognized awards program for educators and leaders in the field of educational technology integration in K-12 schools. The program identifies and rewards educational technology leaders around the world for their commitment and innovation. In 2011 he became an Apple distinguished educator and he continues to train students and teachers in the use of Apple’s powerful learning tools. In his life he’s gone from being an at-risk kid doing stints in foster care to traveling the globe talking to audiences of educators, business people and kids. Through the Cardboard Challenge, children have learned math, engineering and other STEM related concepts, writing, design thinking, creative problem solving, sustainability, social entrepreneurship and more. The Challenge is a great way to get kids excited about learning. Audience: Pre K, K-5 Session 107: Build-a-Form Presenter: John Sowash, Technology Integration Specialist, Sowash Ventures, LLC Description: Google Forms is the entry point into a ocean of opportunity! In this session Google Forms expert John Sowash will create Google forms by request from YOU! Along the way you'll learn how to create an attractive looking form, use data validation to collect "clean" data, and explore add-ons that can help create powerful automated systems. Lunch Procedures Lunches will be available in the Commons at the Career Center via several different serving lines. Once staff members have picked up lunch, seating will be available in the Commons and other locations in the building. The conference schedule allows for 30 minutes for lunch as well as a 15 minute passing time before the afternoon breakout session begins. Lunch Menu Lunch options at the GLB Tech Camp 2018 will consist of a choice of several delicious catered box lunches. We will have several sandwich choices. Participants with dietary restrictions or special requests should contact the BAISD Instructional Services Department via email at jolesd@baisd.net or ruperte@baisd.net or via phone at (989) 667-3280.
