2018 Moog Vegetable CSA
Thorpe's Organic Family Farm
Join us for 20 weeks of seasonal, certified organic vegetables and herbs!
Vegetable CSA Shares
Vegetable shares for Moog employees are available to be picked up once a week, for 20 weeks, or every other week for a total of 10 weeks. See the attached registration form for pricing. Moog shares will have the option of u-pick items at our farm, such as string beans, tomatoes, and peas, once they are in season.
All Moog shares will have access to the u-pick flower patch and herb bed at our farm. We will send weekly u-pick information in our CSA newsletters. The amount of flowers and herbs allotted will depend on growing conditions.
Moog share pickups will begin in June, when our strawberries are ripe. This is typically the 2nd or 3rd week of June, depending on the weather. We will e-mail you with the first pickup date sometime in early June.
To see what members received in previous years, please go to our website and click on the "vegetable share" tab, or contact us.
We are not offering fruit shares at the Moog pickup location, but we will bring fruit to pickups on Fridays, for anyone that wishes to purchase some.
Moog Farmer's Market
At every Friday Moog CSA pickup, we will also host a farmer's market, with our own organic produce, meat, baked goods, maple syrup, honey, grains and fours, coffee, and eggs. This market will be open to everyone at Moog, regardless of CSA membership!

East Aurora, NY
In addition to our CSA, we have a farm store that is open year round. If a CSA share is too much of a commitment, we welcome you to shop at our farm store! Farm store hours are posted on our website, and anyone may shop in the store, regardless of CSA membership.
In the store, we sell all of our organic fruits and vegetables, organic eggs from pastured hens, as well as organic sugar, freshly ground flour, coffee, nuts, homemade baked goods made with organic ingredients, locally produced honey and maple syrup, and our own organically fed beef, pork, and poultry.
We offer organic, u-pick strawberries and blueberries to all of our customers, with or without a CSA membership. We will also open our tomato, string bean, and pea fields for public u-pick if conditions are favorable! Watch our website and Facebook pages in early June, or give us a call for u-pick updates!
VISITING THE FARM
CSA PICKUP/ LOCATION TIMES
We are a certified organic, family owned and operated farm. We do not use any herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or GMO's. Instead, we rely on crop rotation, organic fertilizers, and lots of hand weeding to grow nutritious fruits and vegetables. Farming and all that it encompasses-nurturing the land we have been blessed with, raising animals humanely, and ultimately providing organic, nutrient dense food for our local community- is our passion. We hope you'll join us in our farming endeavors.
WHAT IS A CSA?
CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture". In our certified organic CSA, members pre-pay for produce at the beginning of the growing season. In return, our Moog members will receive 20 weeks of freshly picked, seasonal, organic produce.
The CSA model provides us, the farmers, with start up revenue to begin the season with, which contributes directly to the farm's success!
Benefits to shareholders include: reduced cost of produce, weekly organic produce that is harvested fresh just for you, u-pick options at our farm for certain crops, and weekly newsletters including recipes and cooking tips.
WHO ARE THE FARMERS?
CSA pick up for Moog shares will be held in the back parking lot, behind lot 17.
Pick ups will be on Friday, from 2-5 p.m. If you are unable to pick up your share at Moog on Friday, you may pick up at our farm either Tuesday or Thursday, if you notify our farm in advance. You may also have a friend or family member pick up your share.
Please, no early birds or late comers! More detailed information about pick ups will be emailed to you in early June before the season starts.
In order to cut down on wasteful packaging, we ask that you bring your own bags/baskets to carry your produce home in. Our CSA is run "market style", meaning most of the fruits and vegetables will not be pre-packaged. Please note the first few shares you receive will contain less produce than the shares you'll receive later in the season, as indicated on the "what do we grow?" chart.
WHAT DO WE GROW?
Below is a list of fruits and vegetables we grow for our CSA members*
Citrus or orange juice
*We do our best to ensure the success of all our crops, but unpredictable weather can occasionally cause a small amount of crop failure. The amount of produce that we grow ensures that all shares will receive plenty of variety, even if a couple of crops don't thrive.
*We do our best to ensure that every crop is a success, but inevitably, unpredictable weather can mean a couple of crops do not thrive every year.
