Diego Pavía
I am thrilled to open this edition of Watt's on, which provides you with the first insights into the ground-breaking products our project partners have ready for commercialisation this year. These solutions, which have gone from prototype to commercial product after a number of years of consultation and collaboration with our project partners and our wider industry and academic network, target building-integrated photovoltaics, cyber-security management, industrial energy efficiency and wind turbine condition-monitoring systems – just to name a few. All of the products, and their details, can be found on page four. You will also get a chance to view these products, as part of the 150 innovations from our start-ups and innovation projects, at our upcoming annual event – The Business Booster. Early bird tickets are fast coming to a close, so I encourage you to book your tickets by this Thursday, 30 June, to take advantage of a 30% discount. Over in education we have launched our new online learning platform, The Institute of Sustainable Energy – which will soon be hosting our second course – Competitive Intelligence and Effective Exploitation of Patents. If, on the other hand, you have a business idea linked to an educational course in sustainable energy, but need additional funding and a network of partners to develop it, I encourage you to read more about our Call for Professional MOOCs, which opened today. For more information, please head to page three. In addition to these top-line activities, there has been a wealth of activity within each of our regions – Benelux, France, Germany, Iberia, Poland plus and Sweden – our entrepreneurs are continuously winning awards and gaining exposure in the media; we are reaching out into the eastern European countries, such as Estonia, Lithuania and Croatia, to give start-ups from these regions an opportunity to leverage off our network by applying to our KICkoff competition; and, our Master’s students are continuing to make an impact and inspire audiences across the continent. I hope you enjoy our Summer edition of Watt’s on, and until next time, I thank you all for your collaboration with KIC InnoEnergy and wish you a nice summer break.
