Books for Moore!
Mrs. Adesha Thompson
September 15, 2017
8:00 am. - 4:30 pm.
J.L. Mudd families came together to provide 6 boxes of books for Moore Elementary School, in Houston, Texas.
In addition to having to relocate due to damage, this school lost a significant amount of books, and teachers are in need of books to replenish their classroom libraries. This was a great opportunity for JL Mudd to help others, and Mrs. Feldt took the lead. The idea of having the donation option at our Book Fair last week, was one of several ideas she had. Thank you so much to all the families who were able to make a donation.

Dear J.L. Mudd Families,
What a busy week this has been! First, our Read-A-Thon fundraiser kicked off. Students are already busy getting sponsors to support them on our Reading Day! Students and teachers were excited to begin most clubs this week. I love hearing the giggles as they meet their club sponsor in the morning, ready to find what fun activity is in store. Finally, Thursday marked the middle of the quarter. (Can you believe it?) Next Thursday, Sept. 21, you will receive your child's mid-quarter report indicating the progress they have made so far.
I want to remind parents, since clubs have started, please be sure to check the specific club dates the sponsors have listed. There may be a week when a sponsor will not hold club due to another appointment. In addition to the sheet the sponsor sent home, you can find our monthly club calendar on our website by clicking here.
Even with all the hustle and bustle, each day I am so proud of our students and staff for always putting forward 100% effort to Learn and Lead!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call me.

Early Release Days
Our first Early Release Day of the year was this week. Please make sure the office is aware of how your child will go home on early release days. The next Early Release Day is:
October 12, 2017
Just a friendly reminder that should you have to bring your family pet with you in the car for drop off or pick up, our staff member will allow your student to enter your vehicle independently. We love pets, but please avoid bringing them when possible. Thank you!
10:55-11:20 Second Grade
12:15-12:50 First Grade
Each grade level will have a 10 minute recess following their lunch time.
Crisis Management Guide
All staff members have received a copy of our building’s Crisis Management Guide and have been trained regarding its implementation. A copy is posted in every classroom and procedures will be drilled with the entire student body in the near future and throughout the year. You can feel confident that we, in conjunction with local police and security consultants, have developed a comprehensive plan to prevent and react to most foreseeable crises.
Transportation and Safety
Please read the guidelines sent home pertaining to student behavioral expectations when traveling on our school buses. Please help us keep our buses safe by teaching your children these important guidelines.
Also, remember that changes to your child’s normal bus routine may only be made by calling the Transportation Department at (636) 281-3458.

We are so glad that many of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids books were checked out from the wooden shelf by the cafeteria recently! Please enjoy that copy, but remember to return it so that other families can enjoy it, too.
