FEATURES THEY LOVE
Advanced template locking - official newsletter templates can be customized without sacrificing brand consistency
Collaboration - the national association can work seamlessly with its local association partners, getting more done in less time.
The National Association of Home Builders represents 140,000 members across the United States. Most of NAHB’s local associations across the country send a monthly newsletter showcasing the products and services that deliver value to their members. All associations operate independently so they can cover news about events and advocacy initiatives specific to their local membership.
The problem was that many of NAHB’s smaller affiliate associations, and even some of its medium-sized associations, lacked sufficient staff to produce a newsletter on a monthly schedule. Among those that did deliver a regular newsletter, there was significant variation in quality, and often little in terms of branding to communicate that members of a given local association were also members of a larger national association.
When NAHB discovered Lucidpress, they found the perfect solution that would give them both the customization and the brand consistency they needed. With template locking in Lucidpress, professional designers at NAHB can create newsletter layouts and lock down important elements, including logos, fonts, and even entire articles, to make sure those elements are part of the finished newsletter. The designers then turn these layouts into templates that can be used by local associations for their newsletters each month. Local associations can customize everything but the locked elements, and all NAHB members now enjoy a seamless brand experience regardless of the size or resources of their association.
Another benefit to NAHB is how easy Lucidpress is to use. The smaller associations that lack professional design capacity have no problem navigating the intuitive editor in Lucidpress, giving them complete autonomy in the content they create. Local associations gather the content that will bring the most value to their users, and then simply plug it into the attractive layouts created by NAHB designers.
“Lucidpress has been great for us. We’ve signed up well over 100 of our local home builder association partners, and the response has been very positive.”
Results and Impact
BRAND CONSISTENCY. With Lucidpress and template locking, the newsletters from each chapter all have a consistent look and feel, and important messaging from NAHB gets out to all readers. Each newsletter strengthens the NAHB brand with professional design and personalized content aimed at providing valuable information to NAHB members. The monthly newsletters show NAHB members that they’re part of a top-notch organization.
ADDED CUSTOMER VALUE. NAHB is a member-driven organization, and more than 2,000 members serve on the association’s board of directors. That means it’s important that members are well-informed about developments in the home building community. With template locking, all NAHB members now have access to a high-quality newsletter each month. Template locking also allows the national organization to ensure that crucial messaging for the NAHB community at large is included in the newsletters, so every member is always in the loop on the most significant developments across the country and in their own hometown.
BOOSTED PRODUCTIVITY. Local associations don’t have to strain themselves with design work they aren’t equipped for, and designers at headquarters don’t have to worry about making mundane layout changes for each local affiliate. Everyone is able to devote their time to the jobs they’re trained to do. It’s the perfect balance: local associations focus on messaging that will be valuable for their members, and NAHB dedicates its resources to building and maintaining a consistent brand and messaging.
