My Memoirs, Mostly for Me
Sometimes for you
Miracles are happening all the time these days. Every day. Do you notice? Do I? Not enough, I know that. Who can blame us, really. Distractions abound at every turn. The US feels like a pressure cooker right now. The media is dancing around in the political mosh pit all day, every day. The news looks like something you would see on CSI or Law and Order. My Facebook page is so interesting, my phone is ringing, my kids are screaming! And yet, there is a dragonfly patiently waiting for me to notice her. Dragonflies have been messengers to me for a long time. Whenever I see one, I know that it is time to shut down, tune in and listen. I am trying to pay more attention to all of the miracles in my life. I have a very cool miracle to share.
When my dad entered hospice, we rented an RV and my husband Scott drove us to the Oregon coast to hang out for a week. One of the highlights of the trip was a fishing excursion. My dad has always loved to fish, so it was a perfect addition to our trip. We were to be at the dock at 6:30 am the morning of our voyage. On the way to the dock I started missing my mom, Merri Ann. She had been gone less than a year, and her death still hung heavy on our family. She would have loved our trip. I know that she was with us, but it just isn’t the same as sharing the adventure with her. I said to my dad, “Wouldn’t it be cool if our boat was named the SS Merri Ann or something like that?” He agreed that would be amazing.
Soon we arrived at the dock, did the paperwork, and headed to the boat. My sister Kristi gasped and grabbed my arm. “Look at the name of the boat!” There, in scrolling white letters on the side of the sky blue boat, “Miss Raven.” My eyes filled with tears of gratitude and awe. My mom loved ravens. She has come to all of us through ravens many times since her death. We all have ravens tattooed on our arms in honor of our mom. Of course our boat would be the Miss Raven! Of course she was with us on our journey. I am forever grateful for the miracles in my life.
My challenge to all of you is to slow down, tune in and pay attention. Miracles big and small are all around you. Here’s to a lifetime full of miracles and magic!

Which one of the following has no relationship with the others: Interleukin-6, Osteoporosis, Atherosclerotic Disease, Awe, Adult onset Diabetes? Okay, so it was a trick question. The entire above are linked in some way to each other. Atherosclerotic Disease (which includes cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and peripheral vascular diseases) Osteoporosis, Adult onset Diabetes plus Dementia, Alzheimer’s and some forms of Arthritis and Cancer are all associated with the aging process. A contributory cause to all of these is inflammation in related body tissue areas.
Interleukin-6 levels within the body have a relative effect on inflammation. The higher the body’s interleukin-6 levels the more inflammation within the body. The more inflammation increases the possibility of Age Related Disease.
Now where can AWE possibly fit into all of this? A number of studies in the field of emotional research have indicated that feelings of happiness and of a positive nature promote increased well-being by releasing positive mood stimulating hormones into your body. Recently, multiple researchers have been narrowing down these broad studies by targeting certain moods and measuring the levels of various body secretions into the blood-stream. This work is to find which positive moods activate what beneficial secretions the most.
The study of Awe is still young as far as research goes, but researchers are looking more closely at that eye-popping, jaw dropping, and that “taking your breath away” sensation of AWE. Whatever is awe-inspiring, whether part of the natural world, man-made, a revelation, or a mystical experience gives us a sense of the incomprehensible by its dimensions or by its unfathomable understanding (or both)! AWE forces us to look at things and ourselves in a different context of being. This is what makes experiencing AWE and experiencing happiness different. Research is supporting that we may be analyzing AWE in the present but it is forcing us to look beyond the realms of the here and now; forcing our comprehension into the universality and the totality of interconnectedness. Memories of past awe-inspiring experiences can recreate many of the same sensations felt as well.
These may be the very factors that affect levels of Interleukin-6. Research by Jennifer Stellar, et. al. from 2015 has shown that the experience of AWE does more than change your mood; it may have a positive impact on your physical health as well! Her study has shown that AWE has the strongest effect on lowering the inflammation inducing Interleukin-6 levels!
The over usage of the expression “awesome” does AWE an injustice. If further studies support these initial findings of Stellar’s research, this is an AWE inspiring discovery in itself. It supports the concept of finding the miracles in every corner of Life, World and Universe is the best way to approach living. In the mean time it never hurts to add AWE into your life whenever and wherever you can!

Do not resist your current mood or try to change it. First accept that it is a perfect expression of how you feel and then listen to the message this brings.
We might not enjoy being sad or lonely, but life is not only about happy moments. Deep emotions can be powerful in ways that make us uncomfortable. However, trying to run from these feelings only increases their power and affect. Emotions are often spiritual messages, the way our body communicates with us. We sense and understand these messages when we listen to them without judgment.
Are you feeling fearful? Sink into the emotion without judgment or question. You do not need to know exactly why you are afraid or find a cause. Feeling afraid does not make you a coward. Feeling sad does not mean you are a chronic pessimist. Feeling anxious or lonely or overwhelmed does not mean you are a negative person who. These are simply emotions and messages running through your body. You just need to acknowledge the emotion, surround it with love and release it. Do not fight it, do not try to understand it, simply love it, say thank you for the message, and let it go.

Magic Monday Message
10 Ways to have a stress-free day!
Statistics show the most successful people in the world are folks who optimize their days from the moment they awaken. Life offers us plenty of challenges. Meeting them when we are tired, drained and stressed can make them feel impossible to manage. Here are some of my favorite practices for keeping stress at bay.
BEGIN THE DAY PEACEFULLY
Sitting quietly for 5-10 minutes before you start your morning routine can set the tone for your day. You can meditate or do some simple breath work before rising.
(Pro-Tip: Avoid your smart phone and hold off on checking your email or social media. It can wait.)
Fact: Science has proven time and time again that your morning routine sets the rhythm for the rest of your day.
SET POSITIVE INTENTIONS
Take a few moments to do a daily affirmation or think good thoughts about your day or others. Visualizing your day going smoothly and easily will also help establish a positive outlook.
(Pro-Tip: Visualize yourself from the current moment, living the best version for this particular day. Make it as vivid and detailed as possible. Incorporate feelings of joy, happiness, excitement and gratitude).
Within the first 30 minutes of waking up, perform a quick exercise routine. The goal here is not “fitness”, instead it’s to increase energy and stimulate your mind to elevate mental performance for the day. Furthermore, this quick routine will help release serotonin (happy hormones) during a time where you likely used to produce cortisol (stress hormones). Shockingly, science says if you do this for just 5 days, your body will begin to identify mornings with joy rather than tension and anxiety.
Instead of wolfing down whatever's closest and most convenient, give yourself enough time to to prepare and notice what your food looks like, tastes like, smells like and feels like. Your digestive system will thank you.
Taking a few deep inhales and exhales can help to manages feelings of stress and anxiety during the day.
(Pro Tip: Learn Ujayi breath, it's power stress relief tool. Here's how.)
Staying hydrated with with water and herbal teas is a very kind act of self love and will boost your health and happiness.
The link between water and stress reduction is well documented. All of our organs, including our brains, need water to function properly. If you’re dehydrated, your body isn’t running well -- and that can lead to stress.
STRETCH & MOVE
Many of us sit for long periods of time at our workplaces and this can lead to tension and tightness in our necks, lower back and hip flexors.
Moving, standing up and doing some simple yoga exercises at your desk can help relieve tension and help you refocus on your tasks.
SET REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Eat the elephant one bite at a time. We may get overwhelmed from time to time and have numerous tasks and responsibilities at hand. Plan accordingly, break everything down into small, manageable steps.
We often set ourselves to auto-pilot while we navigate our commutes or our walks. Be aware, turn off your phone and if you have a long commute, consider doing it in silence to let your brain have a break or put on soft soothing music. Classical is a favorite of mine.
If you're on foot, lift your head up and don't bury your face in your phone. It's a great way to avoid being hit by a car or accidentally falling into a sink hole.
When you arrive home, allow yourself to transition from work-mode to home life. It's important to shift gears and let the day go both physically and emotionally.
What was the best part of your day? Before you drift off to sleep, write down at least three things that went well and that you're grateful for. It's a wonderful way to conclude your day.

Creating a Personal Sanctuary
I use my creative voice work and sounding practices to deepen my inner listening skills. Sounding has transformed my life and allowed me to access deepened intuition, and spiritual, physical and environmental awareness. My sanctuary is the place where I connect with my Higher Guidance through sound, silence, meditation, and ritual.
Creating a meaningful and intentional space can help you strengthen your connection with your Inner Being. Your Inner Being or Higher Self has a bird's eye view of your life and wisdom and perspective to share with you if you are willing to listen.
You can create a sacred space for yourself to be able to tune into your Inner Being. Having a dedicated physical space is not necessary at all. However, it helps teach us to detach from external distractions and come into a deeper presence. The goal as you improve your inner listening skills is to be able to find this place within yourself anytime, anywhere. Creating sanctuary incorporates the following components: Intention, Place and Time, Ambiance and Meaning, and Ritual.
An Intention is a statement of being and desire. It can guide, motivate, and inspire us to action and bridge the creation of healthy habits and manifestations. In everyday life, most of us don’t give much thought or attention behind what we do and why. We are habitually living, acting from social conditioning or social expectations, not thinking about whether or not these things feel good, make sense, or lead us somewhere we want to be. Intentional living is the conscious direction of energy and action. As we intend, we become. It is with our intention that we create and manifest. Are you living with intention? If not, where is life taking you?
Time and Space. To manifest something new in our lives, we need to create space for it to come in. Sometimes it means clearing something away, saying no to one thing and yes to another.
Everyday life has constant demands on our attention and multiple distractions, and it is important to cultivate balance. Your sanctuary is your container of self-care and inner reflection that will generate enormous clarity and more space in your life for tangible transformations to take place.
Your sanctuary should be a meaningful and quiet area you can access easily and consistently on a regular basis, where you can comfortably and freely do your sacred activities without disturbing others or feeling self-conscious. It could be indoors or outdoors, at home or elsewhere. Schedule “sanctuary time” and commit to it regularly.
Meaning & Ambiance. Ambiance describes the appealing qualities of the atmosphere of your sanctuary, and how it accommodates your intention and activity and sets the mood. To enhance positive energy flow in your space, incorporate the elements: earth, water, fire, air, or symbols of the elements in art or decoration. You may also want to incorporate symbols of benevolence, support and inspiration: angels, ancestors, deceased loved ones, inspiring people, spiritual or religious figures, and animals. Everything you include should have a significant, personal resonance with you. This ambiance you are creating IS you.
Ritual is intentional, meaningful, and symbolic action. Thoughtful and deliberate actions foster deeper consciousness in everyday life - whether we are doing dishes, driving in traffic, or cooking for the family. Practicing ritual in your sanctuary increases your awareness of the ritual aspects of everyday life, the regular activities, and the schedule you maintain. Create and follow a specific practice that gets you “in the zone,” and aligns with your intentions.
Your sacred sanctuary is a special space for deep inner connection, divine communication, and contemplation. It is a refuge from the demands of the modern world. In your sanctuary, you can be inspired; you feel good; you are reminded of the potential for peace, harmony, and contentment in your life and in your world. Have fun creating yours, allowing it to change and evolve along with you, as you listen to and follow your Inner Guidance.
Those Vibrational Frequencies Taking Us For A Ride
As we continue to raise our vibrations into higher levels and frequencies several changes
within our experiences occur. Situations, people, and more---almost everything familiar to us
goes through a metamorphosis. We are taken from our egg stage into full fledged gorgeous
butterflies, seemingly without our permission.
I remember the first time several years ago my relationships and work settings seemed to
be ripped from me suddenly. I was mortified, thinking I must be doing something very wrong to
be creating this! Slowly, I began to understand I was changing from the inside out, having an
expansion of consciousness! I do not even remember asking for this evolution of spirit, but
evolution of my very existence and being is what happened!
Looking back, I now see I had begun doing things very differently...without even making the
decisions to do so:
1. I gave up alcohol and other substances (sugar, sodas, salt, etc.)
2. I ,who had been a meat eater forever, became a vegetarian.
3. I began meditating twice a day.
4. I not only stopped watching television, I got rid of all television sets.
5. I fully embraced and spent as much time as possible, in nature.
6. I took yearly a solo spiritual retreat.
It wasn't even that I made a conscious decision to do even one of these things! After all, I
did not view myself as much different from my peers----although since childhood I felt I was
always a round circle trying to fit into a square peg!
As a result of entering and continuing to raise my vibrations many changes came:
-My interests changed . I, who used to have to be surrounded with noise, such as television
always on, car radio blaring everywhere I drove, always on the telephone, etc. I became and
relished being very quiet.
-Long term friendships , especially those not going in similar rising directions, fell apart.
Some were abrupt, unexpected endings. Others were that I and they just drifted apart from
each other with no reason to do so.
-I began having increased sensitivities to any medicine I was given, foods I always tolerated
I suddenly could not handle, was unable to tolerate strong emotions in others, felt strongly the
energies of trees/animals/the earth/bodies of water.
-My already heightened intuition abilities increased dramatically.
- Colors intensified.
- When life lessons presented themselves to me instead of needing long periods of time to
assimilate and process information and meaning, I processed all aspects at a high rate and
-More like hearted and conscious beings kept showing up in my life, reflecting who I was
-I began acting and voicing life events , circumstances, and interactions with others very
differently. I was living more with intention, authenticity , and integrity and spoke from my heart
instead of from my head. I was more self honest in seeing my thoughts and behaviors.
If and when you see any of these symptoms and changes in yourself, when it seems things
you expect to always be present in your world are being ripped from your life------don't freak
out! Embrace the opportunities you are witnessing as absolute proof your Spirit and Human
Experience is on the Highway of Higher Vibrations. You have awakened from a deep sleep.Do
not try to figure it out or explain it to yourself or anyone else for you cannot! Just get out your
vibrational surfboard and ride the waves and hang on as you keep soaring higher and higher.

Here is what Kristi has to say about her
brand new oracle deck:
"Kindred Spirits Energy Oracle has been in my head for a decade. I have spent hundreds of hours writing, thinking, planning, and designing the cards. The artwork is Fractal Art. Fractals are mathematical equations that create geometric forms. They are the closest visual representation to what energy looks like to me. I have been reading energy bodies, energy connections and the energy of situations all my life. Putting what I see into words and images is challenging. English does not have the words to describe what energy looks like in my head. Fractals have helped me express the way I see energy.
At last, the Psychic Sisters have released their oracle deck and book set. Pick up your copies today!
Thank you for reading,
have a wonderful week!
